Gun Tuck,
I would be interested in any info you can get. Right now, the trailer is in Nevada and I am in New Jersey. I won't be able to do the work for a few weeks. I'm not even positive if it has air brakes. I just recall an air line on the tongue with a glad hand. I'm hoping it's an...
I just want to see if this is feasible. Cost is not an issue right now. But some people don't know how to read when I specifically say that I don't want to change the axle.
If you are on the fence about going to Mogfest, just make the decision to go! If you don't have a Mog or Pinz, at least go for the great food and great people!
I put additional steel on the inside of the truck where the tire rack mounts. I'm not totally crazy about mounting to the corner of the truck and wold prefer a bumper mounted rack as well. However, the M1009 bumper is not very strong. Having the step bumper is much stronger but it takes time...
Has anyone ever converted trailer air brakes to electric? I have a military tilt deck trailer from the early sixties. It's only a 3 ton capacity but I think it is equipped with air brakes. I want to be able to tow it behind my M1009 and would like working brakes.
Is there any way to...
I got some wheel chocks, a yellow bridge plate, and a ton of welding gloves from Mark the Supply Captain (Emmado 22). He always has great deals and is an easy person to deal with!
I also managed to get a free ride on Pat Lombardi's APC!!!
Well, I removed my injection pump and during the process, I found a bad O-ring on the driveshaft to the pump. After replacing it and reinstalling the pump, the truck fired right up and ran just fine. Unfortunately, I was lazy and didn't feel like getting a gasket for the pump to the engine...
I just sold my Mog a month ago. :-(
But, I did manage to purchase a Mighty Mite! That might be good at Moab!!! I've never wheeled there, just camped along the Colorado near Fisher Towers a few times.
Sorry...the CUCV is in NJ. But I have a bunch of trailers in Eurek that I want to sell. It's only a five hour ride from SLC. And...I will give you a place to stay and a meal. How's that for hospitality? Screw it, don't bother buying a trailer, just come out for a visit!
Mike,
I'm trying to sell this truck. I don't want to put any more money into it than I have to. My time is limited also.
I think the pump is fine since it was working well last summer. The truck only has 49K on it.
Has anyone taken apart their injector pump to clean it? Is it worth doing? I had rust in mine when I pulled the top off. I just pulled the pump and found a mangled O-ring on the drive shaft. Can anyone tell me where the O-ring is supposed to go? It's on a 1984 M1009.
Thanks,
Scott,
Give me a call on Saturday, it would be nice to meet a fellow mv owner anyway even if you don't meet up with us. I'll be driving my CUCV and heading down to Florence after I leave the show, probably following the Delaware River through PA.
Scott,
It's right off of Route 309 and there will be signs. What time are you going? I will be leaving around 7 or 8am and meeting a couple Pinzgauer owners in Easton if you want to conovy up with us. Where in NJ are you? I'm in Brick.
Give me a call if you want

Jeff,
I've been very happy with my M1009 as a daily driver. I bought it in February to use for my home handyman business. It fits most of my tools and with a roof rack, I can carry lumber. I've added a better seat (pics on a different thread). Mine gets around 16 mpg and has no problem...
