As said there was NOT a revamped gas engine. The 5.7 diesel shared manny of the same dimentions as the 350 OLDS (NOT CHEVY). The 5.7 diesel used a much thicker casting block, (DX is cast into the sides) with big block sized mains (3in not 2.5 like the gasser) Much larger rods and 1in wrist pins...

You have to keep in mind the diameter, And the button style of clutch has much more holding power than a disk because the force of the pressure plate is not spread out of as much of an area.
You will notice that the buttons are made of a metalic/ceramic material...
I know there where questions about the wheels I modified and if there would be a problem holding mud. I just cant remember where it was asked. Well from the pic you can see there are other parts of the truck that hold more......
I dont see anything wrong with his choice of a 60 in the rear for a 1009. Yes the 14 bolt is stronger but the 60 has MUCH better options if you want to run a limited slip in the rear as opposed to a full locker. I really doubt the 6.2 is going to hurt it and he could always run a 60HD as well...
Sounds like you got it figured out, Just make shure it dosnt spin when your driving around. Also there may be check valve that wasnt installed causing it to leak. You wont know if its there untill you pul the pto though.
