    Paint on target

I painted my truck yesterday. The Florida heat nearly killed me! Wearing a respirator for 2-3 hours didn't help. Anyway, I'm pleased with how it turned out. Some before pics provided too. Cab alone (in and out) took 2 gallons.

    Theft prevention?

How do I keep my deuce from being stolen out of my driveway? I have the chain and lock for the steering wheel, but that won't keep the curious kids on the block (or Jody) from firing her up. What do you guys do? Steve

    Engine data plate question

Could someone please post a picture of their Hercules multifuel engine data plate (the one to the right of the turbo? Mine is very faded and all I see is Hercules at the top and the numbers 2-90 stamped into it. Lower down is another number 3995322 which I'm guessing is a serial number for the...

    Bed installation

Here are some pictures of my bed installation. My wife and I did it by ourselves. We used a block and tackle to slide the bed from the M105 chassis to the deuce chassis on lawn timbers. Once we got it to a point that the block and tackle didn't work (about 3 feet). We used my engine hoist to...

    New Arrival

Well I finally got my truck!! It came a few hours ago. Notice the M36A2 in front of my truck. It runs great, starts up very quickly. Everything works except the horn. I'll work on that soon. The M105 donor bed will go on this weekend. It definitely needs fresh paint. All in good time...

    GL podcast on multifuel

I know that GL has been a sore subject here of late, but I ran across this podcast that GL posted on their website (http://www.govliquidation.com/media/Multi-fuel-Options.mp3). Although basic, it was informative and the guy seemed quite knowledgeable.

    Alternatives to 1100 Michelins

Is there a civilian tire that is comparable to the Michelin X-series that is more readily available? 1100 Michelins are hard to come by. I thought of simply replacing the ndts with a civilian tire, but I want an aggressive tread pattern. Steve

    M105 usable parts

Can any of the parts from an M105 trailer (talking about the wheel/hub assembly) be used on the deuce. I mean, the M101 has many parts in common with its prime mover (in its day) the M37 (brake shoes, bearings, seals, etc.).

Trailer body readied for bobbed deuce

Finished the trailer preparation for the bobbed deuce I bought from Dave at Eastern Surplus. The truck is supposed to arrive this week sometime. This is my first attempt at painting with a compressor--man, I'll never rattle can again!! This was a snap! Sanding and scraping carc is a major...

    Hydrolock?

Someone mentioned checking an engine for hydrolock before starting. I thought hydrolock was water in the cylinder (s). Since water can't be compressed, attempting to start the engine would cause damage to rods, pistons etc. So, my question: how do you check for it in a diesel engine when you...

    Bed intallation on bobbed deuce

When installing an M105 trailer bed onto a bobbed deuce, how is it done? Do you simply cut the angle brackets off the trailer, lay the bed onto the duece frame rails, and drill up through the angle brackets on the deuce and bolt the bed? Thanks. Steve

    Brakes --why air?

I have a question that may be a dumb. If the deuce brakes are hydraulic, why do you HAVE to rely on the air assist to stop? In other words, can you stop the truck with the air system broken? Thanks. Steve

    Impact wrench and compressor

A bit of a peripheral question. I have a deuce coming soon and wanted to move up to a compressor and impact wrench set up--1/4 to 3/4-ton trucks didn't require it. Anyway, I spent nearly all my scratch getting th truck. Can someone recommend a compressor and impact wrench brand and capactiies...

    CJ2A FL to TX

I'm trying to work out a deal with a guy to trade a mighty might for my CJ2A. Problem is he's in Ft. Worth TX and I'm in north FL. That would mean a vehicle in both directions. Private companies want $800 for each vehicle! Any suggestions? Thanks. Steve
