    High Priced Deuce!

Justal67: Please do not hastily vent your frustrations upon Steel Soldiers. Few, if any, of us claim to be MV "experts". What we ARE is a collection of people who have "been there, done that". We lean on each other for info and intel. It is up to each person to decide if this is valid...

    Deuce Battery Options?

acceptable substitute battery My advice: Use a BCI group 24 battery w/a CCA of around 650. I know that is less than a CCA rating on a 6TL. But in your situation, who cares?? The starter on your truck only pulls 950 amps at maximum resistance(which is measured at 0 degrees F. at 10 seconds...

    Recovery disaster - Long

Recoveries are disasters waiting to happen. I fail to see the fun in recoveries of any MV. Reading this forum, it would appear they are a disaster waiting to happen. My preferred and ONLY way of purchasing MV's or accessories is from private parties. I have no problems with EUC's, insurance...

    U.S.S. Kitty Hawk FS

No way I was E-6 USMC assigned to the Kitty Hawk as part of the ships MarDet in 1988. I would prefer the KH retired in the U.S.A. HOO-RAH.......!!!!:-D

    now that looks better.

The M35A2 was designed to be a "10-Wheeler" and I think they should stay that way!!! I'm a purist in that respect. I want to increase the snow/ice performance of my M35A2 for WV winters. After research, I have decided that I am going to buy CHAINS for my truck. They are CHEAPER than new...

    New M35a2 in Minnesota

You made a nice purchase. Although the Home-built cover is not "mil-spec", I must say that I like it a lot. If you remove it, take care not to destroy it, as you might want to use it in the future. That truck would look nice tiger striped of tri-color camo. DO NOT put a shiny paint job on it...

Oil Change on the Deuce. When?

I Use Rotella, and change my oil every 3000 miles. It's cheap insurance considering work and money involved in an engine swap. I'd rather be DRIVING my truck as opposed to WORKING on it. I pay 10 bucks/gallon for the oil, use Hastings filters, and figure I will drive my truck about 5000 miles...

    Cover for a deuce?

Do you have a cargo cover on ypu truck? If so, why not buy a canvas tarp for the front of the truck from Sportman guide? Just a thought... If you don't have a Cargo cover yet, PM Warthog, he has some nice used covers.:grd:

Prepping Deuce for Winter Emergency Search/Rescue Assistance...NO JOKE

In this mountainous area of WV, Route 150 is unplowed in the winter. Many idiots do not heed the warning signs posted and venture out on this 33 mile desolate road as a shortcut (shown on GPS) to Snowshoe Ski Resort. Usually they get stranded. While they may be able to walk out to safety, the...

Canvas Side Flaps on Rubberized vinyl Cargo Cover. What's the purpose?

Thank u friends, my assumption was correct. To me, this makes this cover more versatile as this truck is used forr camping, hunting, etc., as well as showing and parading. Should I remove this canvas for historical correctness.....

Canvas Side Flaps on Rubberized vinyl Cargo Cover. What's the purpose?

What are canvas sections on the bottom of my rubberized cover for? They are about 2 feet wide and run the entire length and width of my cover. Currently I have them tucked up under the cover between it and the troop seats. My cover is the rubberized vinyl with the rubber rope attached. Any help...

My Deuce won three trophies June 27th....

Hello SS: Just a quick note and HOT DARN! Took the '70 M35A2 to a couple of parades/car shows on Saturday to show it off. Guess what? West Virginia hillbillys loved it! WTF!? Freeze plugs popping out.

Use a SLIGHT amount of a HIGH-TEMP red silicone sealer. Expansion plugs come in shallow and concave versions. Recommend you closely measure the opening with a dial caliper as expansion plugs are available in 1/64" increments. Use the SAME TYPE as what is in the engine, as I have found both types...

    "War Wagon" Willy

"Save Willy"!!!! That appears to be a 1950-1951 Willys-Jeep Panel Wagon. Probably has the flat-head 4cyl. engine. Free turning engine alone in WV is worth 500 bucks. Salvage that Willys, like you did your Deuce!!!! Wish I had that Jeep a few years ago.....

If I get a deuce how broke will I be?

Hey guys: I have died and went to mv heaven??? Da wife"Kathy's Kountry" thinks our(used to be MINE) 1970 AM General M35A2 is cooler than an Artic winter. She has even volunteered to sand the troop seats so I can repaint them in preparation for a car show Memorial Day weekend. Never was...
