If you get in a pinch with a popped bushing. A couple I've seen and one I band aided pulled the rubber directly out of the outer steel band and left the band in the dog bone. If you take a sharp chisel and cut across the steel band in the bone you can cut it and pop it out. THEN that end of...
Thanks for the pics!!! [thumbzup] Mine has the square 4 bolt backing plate but nothing else outboard from it. I'm at the crossroad where I either make up something like the stock set up or cut it all out and put a rectangular outrigger arm in the tube like it would be if it were originally...
I think the big R6602 got like 4mpg I think I've seen posted. Are the axles stock 5 ton width on those with spacers or what? Could a set of HEMTT wheels or 5 ton combats slap to have a width legal truck again?
Nice CAD work, btw! I'm designing something for work using 4 Rockwell front spindle and hubs with custom 12" wheels and solid tires. Every now and then work isn't much work.
Talked to the guy last night that has it. Some people...he said a logging guy told him he'd lease it from him for $2500, put a Cummins in it ("...since it bolts right in..."), pull the bed, and put a 5th wheel plate on it for hauling logs out of the woods for a job he has... ...THEN give it...
Neat project! Do you have any spare dog bone bushings? My experience in moving logs is you're gonna run out of hauling capacity quick...and off road 10,000 - 12,000lb load (which are EASY to get in a few big logs) will pop an old bushing apart.
I have 100 acres and at the moment BIG trees to pull.
If I can get it, it may just end up for sale again as I've really been trying to consolidate trucks...
Kenny, you were right. I should've gone for the 1" impact wrench. The 3/4" still wouldn't touch those friggin bolts. Oh, so I had two standard depth sockets for 1-1/8" but no deep well. I bought a third standard socket since nobody had a deep one then welded the other two 'offshore' sockets...
IIRC...the wheels have a giant amount of back spacing plus a spacer between the rears. I called and left a message for the guy. I'll try again tomorrow.
Kenny, great info!
My buddy told me I NEED to check it out. We'll see if the guy is a gold dealer or not... :cookoo:
Residual valves, does the stock system have them? Yes or no? Would you need them, ...there's your answer. Residual valves hold a small amount of line pressure so the system basically doesn't have to start from scratch as far as line pressure to actuate the brakes. I believe drum brake...
From the cell pics my buddy took I was like, "huh, bridge truck." Then, "holy crap the front axle is centered...is that friggin' 10 TON?!?!" Then, drat...5 ton front axle, hey that's a bridge truck! ...I'm pretty sure." :) Thanks guys! Hopefully I can check it out!
A buddy of mine sent me this to come and look at. I thought at first it was a 5 ton bridge or something...then maybe a 10 ton cargo but the front axle doesn't look right for a 10 ton or the bolt pattern. Also has the 20,000lb Garwood so that says 5 ton to me as well. Guy says it's something like...
For the amount of times that 12v boost motor is going to run, why worry about getting a 24v motor? Slap a couple of wires to a switch or whatever from one battery and call it a day. It really is only a momentary draw and not like something always eeking away juice from one battery.
