I had this EXACT SAME PROBLEM with the MM hubs I purchased in 2005! The bolt circle in the hub is small by maybe .030 and doesn't allow the bolts to engage the spacer. I used the spacer to keep the drill straight and bored them from the spacer into the hub to open the hole up. That stinks...
That is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. I haven't seen one of the broken cases but that pretty much sums up my suspicions. With the low range, the low trans reverse gear, plus the general rule of thumb is a 2:1 ratio reduction for the torque converter...that's one HECK of a lot of torque there...
Nice find! That's how I power the large Commercial pump on my deuce crane truck. If you happen to have to pull the yoke off of that PTO...whatever you do- DON'T lose the nut. It's some crazy thread like 1-1/8"-28. I had make one by boring out threads on one that was just undersize then...
I was under over the weekend and saw the switch you're talking about. Yeah, that sucker is out of there for sure. I'LL pull the front axle in when I want it in.
Any thoughts on the reverse gear, front drive axle engaged, medievil driving, busted case VS reverse gear, front axle NOT engage...
Okay...I kinda think I may be onto something here and would you guys that think on things to really re-read the above. I also think a set of lock out for the M939 Series trucks would reduce the T-case breakage issue even further as the only time you would have all that super heavy front...
So seriously we're not allowed to back the truck up without a spotter? Come on man...
Wasn't it posted recently the transmission has to be in neutral in order for an air solenoid lock out to open to allow the Low to High shift operation??
I believe 2nd low to 2nd high to 3rd, 4th, & 5th was the way I would pull out on steep hill or loaded. With 1st gear barely being able to be shifted out of without losing all wheel speed, the t-case split is a lot more effective and makes your truck sound like you have at least a 6 speed...
I wouldn't want to add that extra stress of the second axle on the original box. I'd look to something like a push-pull system or at minimum 5 ton stuff...
Awesome build! Nice dare to be different styling. Very cool-
Pinion brake will eat pads since they spin at driveshaft speed which is really singing compared to the axle speed. You may want to keep an eye on the rear pinion temp...sometimes they'll cook the seal with street use of pinion brakes.
Is a 14" pressure plate used for the standard deuce clutch discs? Asking because the deuce has the 13" clutch and my 1160 CAT had a 13" clutch so that would give even more room on that A3 flywheel plus if extra clutch strength was needed, the CAT came through with the multi-disc spacer for the...
I also don't understand why bother listing non overdrive auto or manual transmissions?! Who want's to be stuck at the lower speed? It's no gain over the factory non OD four speed. If you're going to go through ALL the hassle to swap out, at least do it for a reason.
3053B is a myth just like the .85 overdrive. I could have sworn I saw a 'B' one time...maybe in the plethora of 3053/3052's I've looked at along the way...but went back and couldn't find it. M35Tom's overdrive it gives you new parts, updated transmission tricks, and a better overdrive!
I had one hauled on at Freightliner tandem axle rollback. Truck had cargo bows and full canvas. The guy was allowed something like 110" off the deck and we were under...barely if I recall correctly. Problem was you're so close to the overpass that there's a tremendous amout of air pressure on...
I sure as **** hope those first pics of the wheels aren't old USA6x6 dealies. GARBAGE...and a good chance the insert was wrong. Hopefully they're not...
-G, All the ones I've seen were forged as well.
Wow, and aluminum one?? All things considered though, it should be fine as it's not a hard pull IF the winch is being operated correctly. It's probably some diecast POS that WILL break sooner or later though...
On the 20,000lb Garwoods I think...
