To clarify just a tad, I had 8,000lbs hanging on the winch...which was 200' away from the load being lifted straight with the 5/8" cable going over a heavy snatch block back to the truck. It was a straight up lift, but there was little weight actually ON the truck. I do feel however, that you...
That's not bobbed, the tractor frames are short like that. No real frame overhang to speak of like most other trucks. As far as bobbing, same rules apply; hang another set of front springs, lose one rear, swear and sweat, and enjoy.
I get that but you still need to know how much force YOU'RE pulling with and you also just stated that you're 130lbs over-torqued.
I'm not trying to stir anything just make people aware that there is liability EVERYWHERE.
You may wanna find out how much torque you're 4' pipe wrench dealie can actually apply. I was in a class that dealt with metal fatigue and there was quite a windfall doled out to a person who had a truck tire come through their car and do some real damage because the lugs were over-torqued to...
The way the winch gears are designed they will not unwind/backspin unless the load is excessive or it the winch is worn. I've spoken to engineers at winch manufacturers and THAT is the word. Overhead lifting is on a completely different safety and rating scale than a straight line ground pull...
I looked at 31's in my M931A2 and they were too tall for comfort/clearance to the steel bottom of the seat above. Best price I found on the 6TL's was $168 IF I get all 4 at once. I really don't want to go with just two since the wiring is already there and it would cost some to redo that. Plus I...
I'm going to hook the dash switch to the front axle piston as soon as I get to work on the truck again. I still can't believe it's an automatic engagement in low and can hardly believe (but do, you know...) that 4 of 6 random trucks had the t-case plumbed wrong. WOW. Again, great post!
Too bad the "THANK" button goes away after you click it or I'd have about 10 of them after these posts!
Yeah, these transfer cases MUST be garbage!!! Geeze...and I thought just automatically pulling the front axle in with low range was a problem for reverse; now seeing this, WOW. I bet it...
Ha! Nice... I just swapped a member some stuff for a tire and the tire has some checking in one spot, looks to be where it was parked for a while. Parked inflated, not flat. I debating...
I was fortunate to find the correct feet for the heavy topbar like picture with the four guys carrying it or the tan one above. Again, once you figure out how to use it's own weight to help move it, it's a great towbar.
Make sure the front tires of the vehicle in tow are pumped up tight...
I have one one of the non adjustable heavy towbars and like it. Yes it's really heavy but it also gives the pulling truck more leverage on the truck in tow with the longer length of it. Once you figure out how to hook these up in one-soldier fashion, they really rock. Again, they're very...
I have a picture posted on here somewhere with a front bearing failure that I had to drive about 30mi on to get it home. Yep, 4th gear was the only gear being 1:1 that was semi-quite as that wasn't trying to push the gears apart. Momentum and timing are your friend when driving an 18,000 truck...
