If an old school indirect injection non turbo diesel is quiet while running, then something is wrong😂
Seriously, a video of the noise you are referring to would help.
Probably not much of a difference on n/a diesel... especially with the low rpm's of a diesel.
FWIW, from my own experience I've found that exhaust manifolds on a SBC are better on a street driven vehicle versus headers.
An M1009 had 15x8 wheels from the factory and used C rated tires. They're nowhere near as heavy as one of the trucks nor would they haul the weight of a truck. C rated tires will do just fine.
New AC Delco 60 glow plugs and fixed the leaking line going to the inj pump on the 85 M1008. Hopefully both M1008 trucks are good to go mechanically. The only thing I really need to do soon is rebuild the bench seat in the 86 M1008 with new foam.....
Replace every thing that's rubber; tires, belts, hose, fuel lines,...
I previously mentioned harmonic balancer because while the rubber may look good on the balancer, it's dried and hardened.
Sounds normal to me... and these 6.2 diesel engines are not quiet. If it was quiet, then something is wrong with the fuel delivery or it's losing compression. Have you tried changing the fuel filter to see if it runs better?
.
A spin-on filter for oil or fuel is a good upgrade.
On the other hand, if what you have works and doesn't leak... you might say why.
.
I upgraded my 85 m1008 to a Duramax fuel filter set up. I'll have to say that having the primer pump makes it worth it even if the factory unit is not...
Well said, although if the factory fuel filter housing starts leaking you will be doing a spin on filter mod... wound up having to do that on my 85 m1008
