There is great information here. Use common sense and do not go where you will get stuck. That is my motto now. Pulling wheels to do brakes, bearings and seals every week ( off roared on the weekend) is a thing of my past.
Easy does it best. I have been stuck many times in many different situations and the worst was been stuck without another truck with me. I have spent all night in the cold high centered in 3 ft of water with nothing but scrub oaks around. I have had 4 wheels brake through ice over water feet...
That is showing Mother Nature who is the boss. Now this may help. If you have access to a stick welder when all else fails try to stick the end of a welding rod to the center of the plug. 1/8 rod will do fine at 80 to 90 amps. You don't want to strike an arch just stick the rod there till the...
It was more funny watching the on lookers scatter as the 5 ton picked up speed the second time jerking. I know the deuce driver banged his head. The area is the power lines along side the GSPW in Lacey. Years ago you could dirt bike, jeep and have a blast. That ended one summer with two major...
I watched a 5ton pull a deuce out using a 100 foot long stretch strap it was rear t rear. First he tried to pull. No go deuce in up to doors in mud. Then he backs up to the deuce getting as close awe he could. He put in drive and maser the go peddle. Three maybe 4 gears later the strap is tight...
it is not only the axle but 1/2 the load on that side of the truck and bumps combined with speed just amplifies the load on the chain. So normally the axle weight would be on the tires and the sprung weight of 8,000 pounds total would be shared among 4 points almost even. Now tie up one axle...
I am sure some will survive and be in our hands soon. Just takes time. I still don't know why they ordered so many. In the privet sector the vp of production who be handed his hat and given a bonus too.
Get 6x6, 4x4, and 2x4 rough cut oak. Local saw mill will cut for you very reasonable. Dril hole in each end for rope handle. Set in a dry space for 6 months and rotate to keep flat. Then paint with very bright color so not to lose at night. Make a pull rod so you can hook the handle and pull...
In an Emergancy it could be done. Chain up the blown wheel bearing hub or ? Flat to frame and drive slowly. On road I would not due. The deuce rear suspension balances the load between the rears. The spring pack is so heavy duty I doubt it springs much. Now with one axle tied that will generate...
They are nothing to mess with. If you are not experance day changing them, have a truck shop do it. It is one of those jobs that are easy to do but can realy ruin your day. I swear that spring is 3 foot long in that can. It can and has done damage and pain when the chance comes along. My uncle...
Isn't there a limit to how much material can be removed? Do they have oversized rebuild kits? I stopped rebuilding years ago. The cost of new is not that bad. NAPA sold me one for $29.00. American made.
Find the closest not going on 6 point socket and tap the socket on to the bolt with small hammer. An extension will aid in holding socket in position the tap with hammer. Then loosen with ratchet. Before you remove get replacement.
