1/2 T carryall
Believe the biggest giveaway would be the front end sheet metal. I'm not an expert on the civilian model, but I believe that only the military 1/2 ton had the sloping hood, the rounded grill, and the headlight guards. Also the extremely high arch of the rear wheel...
Peacekeeper is basically a heavily armored Dodge Ramcharger, built by Cadillac Gage. I'll have to dig out my pictures of one owned by MI State Police I saw in 2004 (pre-digital for me). See if I can get them posted tomorrow unless someone beats me to it.
j-pipe
Pretty straight forward replacement- The one thing I did to my deuce tractor before I sold it. Mine has a whistler turbo, but it should be about the same.
To make it a little easier:
1 remove the air cleaner
2 pull the inner fender off
3 pull the flex pipe off the exhaust and stretch...
In Dave Doyle's article on the M211 series in AM, he mentions the tailgates on those trucks have a step that swings down automatically when the tailgate is lowered. That might work on the drop side, or on the tailgate, either one.
Michigan Rally(s)
We've got several events in Michigan where SS members are very welcome, although because of the nature of the beast (insurance), some require membership in the Great Lakes MVPA or the Michigan Museum of Military Transport.
The GL MVPA has a ride at Fort Custer near Battle...
RE: fried coil
Derby-No, the original harness wasn't fried that I noticed. It was just frayed and bare in several places. The 3-lever switch didn't work, which was apparently the only thing that kept the truck from catching fire. I'll check into the voltage regulator to see if it's the...
fried coil
Among the rat's nest of wires he had under the dash were a couple resistors that ran the heater motor and the turn signals, I believe. Otherwise it was still running on 24v. I can replace it again, just to check. I've got 3 or 4. Anyway to check the coil for sure before putting...
This could be an M37 question or general electircal-but I'm perplexed.
Bought M37, started and ran fine, except the only electrical that worked was gauges, turn signals (12V), and horn. Rest of wiring was shot, one headlight was black.
Bought new harness (second hand, never installed...
Clint and I spent about 6 hours on the trail at Grayling last fall in his Goat, enjoying a pleasant conversation the whole time. He has a hard top. Still awkward to get into and out of, and double check your belt carried cell phone everytime. We had to go back for what was left of mine.
Back in the day
A little further than Carpenter Rd! Heck, that used to be the turn around for the Clio Rd cruise.
Naw, I'm from the "Near North side" as I call it-grew up on the corner of Dayton and Detroit sts (oops, sorry, it's ML KING AV now!) House isn't there, school isn't there...
Sub doors on a "blazer"
Here's a question maybe you can answer for me. I was thinking that I'd like to take off the rear 'door' it's got now and put the two rear doors on from a Suburban that swing out. Does anyone know if these doors will fit?
I studied this for a while before GM came out...
use a trailer
You guys are recovering this truck for the Museum and MMMT will reimburse any costs necessary. Remember, since this truck was rolled, it may be a little more serious than a brake locked up keeping the wheel from turning.
Also, Lane, if you need a tarp to cover that yellow truck...
RE: towing
Bob,
Yeah, I was told the wheel was locked up so bad it pulled the tow vehicle and trailer back under the 880. They had to jack the truck up to pull the trailer back out. I thought that's why they're using Dave P's big truck. Thought they were going to pull it onto a trailer to...
RE: Interesting...
Sorry, BA, if I'd noticed you were the poster on this thread I wouldn't have rushed to the library for my books. I also didn't pay attention to the 4 speed and other specs, just went by the body. Could you give us the model numbers from the data plates? Was that blue one...
I don't see the mud-line up to the windshield on the Mog-Did you take the picture before the mud pit at the Custer ride? These guys might like to hear THAT story!
Looks the same as my reference pics of the M886, except for the color and the grill guard. May have been AF if there's any blue under the orange. Check p 77 of Doyle's 2nd edition Standard Catalog. Ask Bob H. for sure.
Re: RE: Anyone for a CUCV Suburban?
Yeah, but this sub doesn't have the third row. The radio and spare tire mounts take up that space.
I wanted to do something like this with my '86 Sub that did have the third row, but it was blue so I was going to make it an AF truck. Til it rusted away...
