The museum in Frankenmuth is "Michigan's Own" dedicated to the medal of honor winners and other VIPs, like astronauts, from the state. Has interesting artifacts from MOH recipients from the Civil War on, along with uniforms, flight suits, pictures, letters, etc, from many other people. Very...
RE: Modeler
Anybody out there work with resin kits, like Verlinden?
Anybody ever make a "water" diorama? I've got a couple boats I want to put in a natural setting, but need advice on how to color the "water" and what's best for making it.
RE: Modeler
I got the display counter with the intent of putting it in a Museum Display Trailer, then decided I couldn't afford the rest of the modifications and sold the trailer. Put it up in the garage to get all the old models out of storage boxes.
Are your base models styrene or resin...
I operated a Mog-based Freightliner SEE (Small Emplacement Excavator) for my Guard unit. It was very difficult for my long legs to run the clutch, especially when using the front bucket to load a dump truck. I don't think they build ANY mv with anyone over 6'2" in mind.
For the first one, with the test weight of 2500 being manipulated by the MHE (Material Handling Equipment), I'd almost GUESS this is OSHKOSH's entry into the FMTV competition. This was about 1990. We had a bunch of Teledyne=Continental's entries (the losers) at the DNR lot in Gaylord in the...
RE: Modeler
Thanks, Will. Mine never got blown up because we weren't allowed to play with firecrackers! I still have some of the ones I built when I was 10. We won't talk about how long ago that was, but I will admit I bought them at the "five and dime". In fact, the half-track in the...
RE: Invasion
Will,
Nice pics! Some of that European iron is interesting. Did you get any pics with your deuce? I've never seen the size comparison. See a lot of the Pinz's etc for sale on e-bay, though.
Seeing the quality of Charles King's work, and knowing that several of us have "dabbled" in scale models for a while, how about a MODELER"S FORUM?
I have done a lot of models in 1/35 scale, though I do not claim to be of the detail and quality that Charles has shown. It allows me to have a...
RE: Wire
I'll check. I can compare the extras to the ones on the truck and figure out which is which. I'll PM you tomorrow with the results of my search.
The M35A3s with the same transmission set up as the 923s will do the same thing. During 88M (Motor T Operator) training in the winter at Traverse City, got to play on the Coast Guard's airfield. Managed to stomp on the brake til it stalled (slid some, never did actually stop) and then press...
Looks like they're all TRACTOR models. At least the 5th wheel plates and air connections should be worth something to all those guys on here converting dumps or straight trucks.
Sam Winer
Rattlehead, I can only speak from a historical perspective. Some friends and I spent most of a day wandering through Winer's place in 1995. Almost came back with a M3 Stuart tank, a Pacific transporter, and a Tucker snowcat. They wouldn't fit in the suburban.
It was on about 3...
pics I promised
Here are some pics of a Ranger owned by the Michigan State Police that I took at the Alpena CRTC in 2004. I don't want to hear any bitchin' about the color-it's original government issue, just not ARMY GREEN.
