Denton, NC rally set for April 11-13, 2014

So, seeing that this thread really hasn't gotten much traffic, I am debating on whether to start a WTB/FS/FT thread or not. Is it necessary, or should we just post on this thread to keep from having to keep up with 2 separate threads?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My Brother got the deuce cab painted inside and out. Frame will be painted tomorrow. Bed will be reinstalled and painted Tuesday. I tore the troop seats apart to get them ready for new wood (composite decking) - this was NOT a fun job! Took me 5hrs to remove the old wood and rusty hardware. I...

    ATPTac has a new deuce

It's not as bad as I thought the non turbos were. Mine has the fuel turned up and it blows alot of smoke, but not while idling.

I was wondering about that 2" stack and how smokey she was - makes sense now!

    ATPTac has a new deuce

He he - shows you how good I am at names! I have a Josh coming to pick up my parts jeep this friday - hope I remember his name. Yep, definitely need to keep in touch, and like I said, I didn't even know matt444 was right down the road from me - there are probably more of us crazies out there...

    ATPTac has a new deuce

Hey Jason, Glad you got her home without too much more trouble. The other Matt's screen name is Matt444. I would like to thank him again for showing up so quickly after I texted him. Like you said, he brought the necessary equipment and vehicle to get the deuce going again! BTW, even though...

New to me and Dad M38A1

I just got home and measured both of my m100s. With weight on them, and old, they measure 35.5" + they both have the bent over clamps, so thats not a match on them - my guess is m38.

I would almost bet they are m38 springs, but of course the mb and gpw also measure the same (they had an 8 leaf version too). The m38/mb springs measure slightly more than yours - 36.25" and 42"(compared to 35.25" and 40.5"), but the leaves and clamps are the same. Gpw clamps are marked with an...

New to me and Dad M38A1

Hey Al, I think the rear 'a1 springs are 44 1/2" eye to eye, have a 7/16" eye bolt, 1.75" wide, 13 leaves and 6 leaf clamps (with the bolt holding them together, not bent over).

There you go - build the red jeep to take on the trail rides at the GA rally since there really isn't a "show" there, even though there are usually a few that are only brought for display purposes. The steering gear is really easy to rebuild, although the larger parts can be kindof steep. Same...

New to me and Dad M38A1

Yeah, you could build the last 'a1 for "playing", since it wouldn't completely stock - thats what I was thinking about doing with the red jeep you are getting from me next weekend. As far as an overdrive is concerned, these old things don't like long drives over 45 - mine will cruise at 40-45...

New to me and Dad M38A1

Man, it sounds like ya'll are going to have enough parts to build the cj and a couple of 'a1s! I saw the stuff Gene had - advertised it on Craigslist too. I picked up 4 - NOS early style M38a1 front leaf springs in Asheville last Sunday. I'm trying to find someone with a pair of NOS rears...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Installed rear cross member, bumperettes, and 2" receiver hitch. I also cut and drilled new wood bed spacers and my brother welded up the bed that we cut down to 9' and did a little body work on the truck and bed.

I totally agree Al. Not to mention that if you get a run or dry spray in semigloss OD you will have to repaint the entire panel - semigloss can't be buffed out. As you will notice on my 'a1 when ya'll come up here in a couple of weeks helomedic - mine isn't perfect at all. It has small scratches...
