    CJ3A restoration questions

You will never get all of your money back out of it but as said above they are addicting and there is no other sound like an old 2A or 3A going down the road. If you are sitting in the seat behind the wheel with the top off in the summer and cruising down the road at 40 to 45 MPH you WILL think...

    Perfect Truck & Perfect Gentleman

Also, do you have turn signals in the rear? If you do then there is a 85% chance the brake switch is bad. Do you have the older fluid-style brake switch or has it been converted to the air style brake switch. I would bet that the switch is bad but as suggested above. Check for power or pull the...

    Perfect Truck & Perfect Gentleman

There is a cannon plug where the front and rear wire harness halves meet that is near the master cyclinder but I don't remember if it is just in front or just in the back of same. jimm1009

    spindle keyway gasket dilema

Ditto to the above. Really good quality silicon. Clean that area with MEK or fingernail polish remover or Naptha or a paint prep wipe to remove all the grease or it won't work but the silicone works just as well if not better. Cork shrinks or expands depending on it's environment and is not...

    Emergency stopping questions

Suffice it to say, all owners should go through their wheel bearings and brakes when they pick up their new rides. That is the ONLY way that you can know what YOU really have. A single circuit system is good and will last for several years but you have to step over that line in the sand to start...

Lost Pre GL Era SF-97,Who Do I Contact At DRMO?

I did not have an EUC for either one of my purchases of which one was in 1995 and one in 1998 with DRMO. Now days they have them but I suspect that this could be a result of 09/11/01. jimm1009

    Axle plug won't budge

All of the above but perhaps try this first as I had the same problem. I used a 1/2 drive impact wrench with the 1/2 square tool and turned the air way down and just let it vibrate the plug a little at first while it is trying to turn as well. I put lot's of pressure on it and after about 30...

Couple of Russian trucks earning their keep. (Nail Biter!)

Now that is one really sexy, man-size tire. Thanks for the pictures. I like it and it obviously works very very well. Why does the rest of the wold not use that tire? :jumpin: I want some of those. jimm1009

    front rotor removal

I recommend taking the time to clean, inspect, and repack your bearings on the front hubs since you have at least one of them off right now. This is something that is supposed to be done each 10,000 miles anyway so if you do it now then you know that you are good for 10,000 miles more. Good luck...

    front rotor removal

If you ARE going to get the rotor turned, don't remove it from the hub. They will want it installed on the hub with the outer races of the bearings installed as well. It's very hard to find somone to turn the rotor once it is removed from the hub. jimm1009

    5 gallons of Kerosene okay??

If you look in the tanks of the trucks at GL you will see kerosene or JP8 which is a lower quality jet fuel. Jet A is the best quality. Other than lacking lubricity, it will work just fine and your truck will feel like it is back in the military for a while. jimm1009

    What was here???

I have one like that when she is really mad at me. Oops, oh yes, you mean winch right? LOL Thanks for the information. It is an unusal military installation, perhaps someone will be able to chime in with the proper intel. jimm1009

    What was here???

Did you buy your deuce from Uncle Sam or a private party? I don't know of any offical mods (MWO's) for this but I will study this weekend. If it came from a private party I would ask them about the holes. jimm1009 I went outside and checked my A2C just now and it has none of these holes...

    Can't Get One Drum Off

Derek, I think that I heard you shout from here. Glad it worked out for you. Those drums can be turned some in cases you are inclined to save it. Obviously some scarring can not be removed but worth a shot. They (the shop) will measure it before and after turning if you go that route...

    Doh! moment

:ditto: Me too...when I went to Pineville, LA to pick up my first one and I had not driven a deuce in 22 years. I drove two miles or so on country roads to the first gas station and was cursing too. That little instruction plate right in the front of the steering wheel area there just...

    Can't Get One Drum Off

Guess what I found. I purchased a N.O.S. axle from Builder 77 about 5 days before he was called home to help wathc over the rest of us. I installed the axle but used my existing brake drums as I did not feel like cleaning the red finish off that day while I was in such a hurry. Guess where the...
