Ft. Lewis GL to Pull Tire Lots??

I got an email from GL stating that they would not be put up for resale. That means they will go to the scrap contractor who will have to demil them. That probably means that they dismount the tires, remove the runflat gear, and then sell them for 3x as much as we would have paid.

    Multifuel Gensets?

Searched and. Searched. Thought I would resurrect this thread to pose the question: Has anyone tried running an MEP gen set on WMO mixtures? I have spent days reading here, Diesel Stop, Smokstak, and what I have learned is that many people are running all kinds of diesel engines on WMO, both...

    Progressive Insurance

I had similar experience. First agent had a hard time figuring out how to insure it with Progressive. Called another agent, no problem. Had it covered with Progressive commercial insurance for about six months. It is very expensive, but I do have a million bucks coverage.

Ft. Lewis GL to Pull Tire Lots??

No problem with articulation. The only clearance issue is the j-pipe gets rubbed in a tight turn on right front. It is unlikely that GL is going to demount those tires or take the run flat hardware off of the rims. They will most likely be sold to the scrap contractor who will be required to...

Has anyone done an auto crain?

My dad is a stocking Auto Crane dealer and is only about an hour south of Elkton in M.C. He also has the biggest stock of utility beds in the northwest. Sales have been slow, I can get you a killer deal on a new crane and bed if you like. Edit: Killer Deal = Dealer Cost

    deuce power steering kit

Is there anyone here in the NW who has an air assist on their truck? I would really like to take one for a spin before buying. I am not looking so much for the power assist as for not having the wheel yanked out of my hands when hitting a rut or a rock offroad. Thanks!

Help trans hard shift and slipping

Searched a lot, this seems like the best place. When shifting in and out of 4 gear on the deuce, it wants to grind unless I double clutch or wait a long time with clutch in before shifting. All other gears shift OK. Seems like this would be bad syncro. If so, is this something that can be...

    Diesel

Burning red dyed off road diesel in a vehicle used on the road is a pretty big risk. One thing our government takes Very Seriously is collection of taxes. The fine is enormous. I have heard of farmers running two tanks, but I think the tax collectors have probably thought of that too. Consider...

Ft. Lewis GL to Pull Tire Lots??

I was awarded a lot of 16 mounted tires & wheels too. Got the notification of the award, and while waiting for the invoice, got the notification that the lot had been pulled as it was Demil Classification B, requires EUC. Perhaps if they had listed the lots correctly as requiring EUC the sales...

take a look at these wheel bearings & brake pads / drums

Good thing you decided to replace the front bearings and cones. I had a front one go bad south of Eugene, not pretty. When you stop for whatever, check the temperature of your hubs with the back of your hand. Too hot to touch is too hot to run. Normal operating temperature during summer is...

HEMTT Wheels for Your Deuce are READY TO ROLL!

Your Lincoln will probably spray. What you do is get a bottle of Argon for shielding gas instead of CO2 or a mix. You will need an adapter for the gas as the threads on the bottle are different. That considerably raises the temperature. You will have to fool with the settings, but you will know...

Looking for suggestions on what to do with this nifty little gas-turbine genset...

+1 I have seen that done, there is a guy in Portland who has a pleasure boat about 25' long that he powers with a turbine out of a helo. It is amazing to watch that thing take off.

    Auxilary Towing Lights

Whatever you do, DON'T waste your money on the Harbor Freight magnetic lights. I bought a set for occasional use. The magnets weren't strong enough to hold them on anything, and the reflector lenses fell out in the first 50 miles. I haven't come up with something I do like yet, but it will not...

Prepping Deuce for Winter Emergency Search/Rescue Assistance...NO JOKE

I hate to be the Buzz Kill here, but contact your insurance carrier. Ask about what happens when you rescue. If anything happens to any person or vehicle while you are Helping, it goes on you. You are liable. I know it is a bummer, but that's why I stopped pulling people out a long time ago...

Harbor Freight has an inexpensive set of magnetic lights, you can just use those and buy the 24v bulbs at NAPA.

    Fuel Mileage?

I get around 5 mpg on the freeway, that is with 46" tires, running 60-65 MPH, have the injector pump turned up, and do have a cargo cover installed.

    do you call AAA

An AAA auto plan won't tow it. Suggestion: Buy a tow bar and offer to help other SS members in your travel area. When you need help you will have no trouble getting it. I have a tow bar and an understanding with my friends that live around here that we help each other. Also, with that tow bar...

Front Receiver Hitch Build for the Deuce

Front hitch will haul Trail 90. Rear hitch can handle the KTM 950. Cool! There is at least one other deuce in Tualatin, right across Boones Ferry from me. I will send you a PM with phone number.
