I will say the full spin on conversation (all 3 fuel filters and oil) is a bit expensive. But I personally have a seething hatred of old school cannister and element style filters. So the spin on's are not only a vast improvement on ease of maintenance they are also all off the shelf filters...
Theoretically, there would be an increase in fuel economy since there would be less drag and rotating mass. It is quite noticeable how much easier it is to rotate the front wheels when you have the spline caps off.
Granted any increase is probably so minute you won't notice it.
Now...
Hmm trying to figure out the easiest way to explain it.
Basically you will cut the inner fenders out of the bed. Then cut a few inches extra out of the floor of the bed where the fenders were. Then weld your inner fenders back in. You will have to then fill the gap between the fender and the...
The cat engine is far more reliable when you look at its track history versus the multifuel history. In fact in Vietnam they set up an entire infrastructure to supply multifuel engines and repair parts because of the dismal reliability of the multifuel. Granted these engines were being used...
You seriously need to hook me up with your parts supplier's. I don't even have a wrecking yard worth a crap near me. Especially not a large truck wrecking yard.
You could probably do such a thing. I believe the plug on the bottom is standard npt threads. The only tricky part might be installing a bung or bulkhead at the top of the tank.
The lds has more power than the ldt. There are more differences between the 2 engines than just the pump. You can tune an ldt to near lds power levels. It's not hard to do.
Basically, if you have a deuce with a good running ldt there would be no point in spending the money on an lds. Just...
I don't think the multifuel is a bad engine. I have no plans on swapping mine out. It's just when people start throwing out numbers like 5k to gain 50 to 100 hp with no guarantees I just don't see the point or value. You can find a good running truck with a 6bt cummins or dt 466 for around...
The fact that old good running international trucks are laying around CHEAP I see no benefit to spending a fortune on an increasingly obsolete engine.
A dt 466 has more power and torque from the start. It's also easy to build up to monstrous power. All while having parts easily obtainable...
