All you need is a tire groover and some time. I've tried grooving NDT's lots of different ways but nothing really helps as much as getting rid of that center rib than runs the circumference of the tire. In soft snow and mud NDT's do work real well...
Chains are the best of course. If you have a lot of NDT's or NTT's ( no traction tread is what they should be called) laying around. You could try this. It really works.

I concur. I understand the characteristics of the MF. That's why I started with the M35 and not a Big Block Chevy rig. I too am using my M35 for 90% off road. I live in a very rural area ( no stop lights, a hand full of stop signs and one paved road ).

So what box would you use? What series is big enough but not too big? I imagine which ever auxillary trans you used the transfer case would still need to be moved back a little bit. Or maybe even a lot.

I do have another Deuce, I'll pull the tach out of it tomorrow and try it. I'll also try putting my tach in the other one and make sure it reads the same.

There is no "undercarriage pipe" so to speak of, the lowest the pipe ever gets is 7 inches above the battery box and fuel tank. It really is tucked up out of the picture. If I bend or hit the tail pipe then I will shorten it as necessary...
