    Pinion nut torque setting

The M35 pinion nut torque spec is 300-600 LB-FT. The nut is 1.5" size. Don't ask me how to do it easily, the truck wants to move and the torque wrench is rather long in the space between rears.

Redneck A/C and tool boxes on my M820A2

Cool on the ceramic paint coating. New info for me. For power, you got what 24V*60A=1440W so that inverter is great! Hope it will start the a/c reliably. Most will do a pretty big surge. You are right - it will be much better than no a/c at all. Pls keep us posted on the coating and how it...

    Need a Radiator BAD!!!

a "big truck" radiator shop will cost more. If it's physically not too bad, just find a shop where old guys work. They'll know what to do. The repair might cost $200, but they will find and fix everything. A used one can cost $400+ and shipping, has to go by freight. New ones, I don't even look...

    60 Hz Right?

If you get stuck with a 400Hz unit, it is possible to add an inverter or 2 or 3 or whatever to make all the 60Hz you want, but that is alot of cost to buy off the shelf. A big cost reduction can be done with engineering knowlege and re-use of electronic junk. It would only be worth it if the...

    NHC 250 5 Ton performance

oops I posted same time as the Chief. Is there a general chart for power % versus altitude for naturally aspirated diesel engines? It is interesting to compare, if there is data. The only one I have is this cheezy one, made from generator set ratings and one gasoline engine rating.

How far has anyone travelled in their Deuce?

unless the fuel's been turned up. always watch the tach. I did a few road trips, max was maybe 3000 miles at 50MPH or so. None were without some little incident along the way.

Redneck A/C and tool boxes on my M820A2

6200 BTU? Maybe my calculations are off. Maybe if the cab is sealed real tight. I think you need more like 20K minimum for the summer heat and engine heat and all. I've spec'd 30K as a good number for 100 degrees in TX. Do you plan to insulate the firewall and floor?

    2009 vin info thread

$40 donated thanks Carnac. It aint much but it's what I could spare. Once I looked at the org there, I understood it deserves alot more support. I see it's for those who have paid for our freedom with their own flesh, bone, and blood. Really there isn't a price that can be put on that.

    BOBBED EARLY Deuce

I always thought a 135 would be way cool with a big block GM engine and a TH400. Lots of rpm and torque, and short enough too. And light in weight compared to some other things. The caddilac 500 is quite light.

    Homemade trailer

maybe use it to keep a trailer brakes battery charged if you have an automatic brake. or just to keep a battery or two charged for work lights or camping. seems a shame to waste the gears anyway.

    I did a bad thing.

I'd use a piece of aluminum, or maybe a thin lexan sheet with aluminum sheetmetal adhered to both sides. If you put glass back in, the zombies will just break it anyway, seen that in the movies plenty of times, they like to come through the black glass.

What happens when you mix an M-818 with ideas peppered with too much testosterone?

That's why my project is top secret. But I love what you are building. enough room for camping and ATVs and guns and whiskey and a generator and a big screen with stadium seating.

    Homemade trailer

I've always wonderd if it would make sense to connect an alternator to the pinion flange on a truck axle like that. Mount it up on the axle and put a large pully on the pinion flange.. just a wild thought
