Check the obvious too. Broken belt, broken hose, broken bolt. Check the wires on the injection pump. Start easy and cheap, work from there. I haven't actually learned that lesson myself, I am always sure it is the worst scenario. I often end up spending time and money I could have saved.
All my AC's came out, three broke and I had to pull the injectors. I put all Duraterms in. I use them w/ a push button and none seem to have quit. They will work fine with the slave cable. When I installed mine I replaced the connections and used a 6 inch length of shrink tube to make the...
That is why a hi / low beam circuit powered by relays is a good idea. It removes a lot of current dray on the fuse circuit and the headlight switch.
I had a long list of issues recently w/ mine. I cleaned the fuse box and junction box behind it. I also had to swap out some bulbs that looked...
I've got to move my sending units before I'll know. I put them out by the radiator and they read way low. I'm waiting on some 5 pin connectors to use wiring in the gauges, to make removing them to get into the dash cleaner. I'll post pic's when it's done and working.
I found something on the cheap. A digital altimeter, barometer, thermometer, compass. It's meant for hiking and fishing, but is flat backed and a little over 2" around. I plan to stick it on a flat panel attached behind the pod opening. It runs on a watch battery and the front can be...
I have a tach. I also have a clock. Fuel pressure gauges w/ elect. senders are expensive.
An altimeter would be sweet. My gauges are black trimmed w/ black faces. Plus it would need to fit a 52mm, 2 1/16th opening and fit into the length of the gauge cup. That might be impossible...
What I have is a pair of 3 gauge pods and a single tach pod. I have three temp gauges (coolant, oil, transmission), an oil pressure gauge and a volt gauge. I'm left w/ an unused opening. I have no need for a pyrometer as I don't plan on a turbo. That leaves me wondering what to put in the...
There is a sensor on the passenger side, very low, behind the last glow plug. It has two wires. The one on the drivers side, behind the air cleaner, but on top of the motor has one, IIRC.
The one on the drivers side is for the glow plug card, also IIRC.
Gave up on putting in my own window tint. Got the vent windows back in, but waiting on the different seals. Got my gauges installed. 3 temp gauges, oil pressure and volts in gauge pods above the dash. Waiting on a cheapo tach. I have to move the oil and trans temp sending units as they...
I tried the rubbers to fit an 86, actually I tried 2 sets. No go. Rubber is to thick and the window will not close. I am trying the seals for an 84, as they look like the originals, w/ the door post seals having the tabs to hold them on.
If they fit, maybe the right part should go into a sticky.
I just got rid of some plastic covers. Sent them along w/ some freebies I gave away, to get rid of them. Try a "looking for" in a post.
The trans is behind a 6.2, I was wondering about drive shafts, upgrades for towing, etc.
Looking for some info from those who have done these jobs.
-I am looking for a straight forward fuel filter, spin on, w/ water separation, a heater, and a water in fuel sensor.
-I am looking for a 2" (to fit a guage pod) tachometer, preferably one that will work off the alternator, but that may...
I own a mile marker hydraulic winch. It is a serious brute of a tool. I actually have mine rigged to go into a 2" square receiver, with a filter before the input connection due to some past issues with the valves. I use mine behind my little 4wd tractor for skidding firewood and pulling...
Before you jump under the dash. You should check on line for a description w/ pics of how the cable is held into the speedo. Make sure the new one is away from the exhaust and drive shafts.
Update: Took it out for a long drive and the engine noise is better, but far from gone. It comes and goes now, and seems to surge a little. Wondering if I should advance the pump a hair?
Going to install another pump, a reman, tomorrow and see what happens.
Anyone know of a source for a complete rebuild kit for our pumps? I'd like to find the pressure plate as well as the o-rings. My pump looks new inside, and the bearing and vanes feel good. It ran dry and I read the pressure plate should be replaced.
On eebbaay you will find reasonably priced 80amp lighting relays w/ sockets. Also you will find 50 amp or less self resetting circuit breakers. A plastic project box w/ lid and go to town. I made a similar relay feed box for mine to switch lights, acc. fuse boxes, horns, etc. Very handy...

Sorry the pics don't post open and viewable. Some pics of work done. Still more to do. Gauges, re-install the interior, etc.
