I had the FLU419 towed on a trailer to a shop that offered to assist in tilting the cab. I've now changed my mind and will have it towed to my home where I can tilt the cab myself. I am almost certain the problem is with the Intermediate Speed Control solenoid. Since it won't move either...
When I first received my MEP003A the switch wouldn't work properly. I used a heat gun on mine and it finally unscrewed with a ~30 inch crescent wrench and a lot of pull on the wrench. My switch was toast and I got a used one from Delks. No problems since.
I have a very large house and I'm running an MEP003A, one of the later ones built in 1992. It is 10 KW and is adequate for running the whole house, including HVAC. I have a manual transfer switch and I don't have any circuits selected for the genset. I love the MEP003A. It is air cooled and...
I think I didn't describe the problem adequately. When I said there was no power to the wheels I meant that it was like the transmission was in neutral. No forward and no reverse. The engine runs fine. I'm almost possible that it is the Intermediate Speed Control. After looking in the TM...
Now, I have a real problem. I decided to take Flu Farm's advice and remove the entire reel assembly. Unfortunately, I just had surgery and so I decided to drive the SEE to a friend's shop and have him remove the reel assembly for me. After about 7-8 miles on the highway, the SEE decided to...
I need to replace the ends on the hydraulic lines for the hydraulic tools. I plan to cut off about 1 - 2 feet. I don't want to drain the hydraulic tank. I'm assuming that if I don't engage the switch for the hydraulic tools that I can simply cut the ends off the lines and drain the fluid from...
My current hoses are ~30 feet long and in excellent shape except for the end. The FLU was so close to the work area because it was in the final area. Most of the work had the hydraulic lines stretched as far as they would go. I can see where extension hoses would be a great advantage. So far...
Yesterday, I ran my FLU419 jackhammer continuously around 10 hours, breaking up old concrete footings. I didn't do it all myself as that would have done me in very quickly. That thing is a beast, but man does it do the work! This was the only time I have ever had the cooling fan turn on. I...
Looking good! You will enjoy the power steering. My M35A3 only has air assist steering, but it makes it much more enjoyable to drive. The power steering will be even better.
Much of the internal rust may just wipe off since it appears to be surface rust. You could try to get as much as you can. I would not try to use a wire brush, especially a motor-driven wire brush since one or more wires from the wheel may come out and end up in the transmission. It looks like...
Definitely re-core the old radiator. I've done that on several different vehicles with 100% success. As an aside, the same radiator shop has boiled out several fuel tanks for me, again with 100% success.
That's too much work for me. When I bought 5 new Pirelli tires from CSM Army tires for my FLU419, my local tire shop, Thomas Tire in Blairsville, Georgia mounted them for $30.00 each including disposal of the old tires.
As others have said never use starter fluid. Starter fluid can easily damage the engine and is absolutely never needed. If everything is correct, the MEP003A will start up very easily, even in cold weather. If it won't start, don't keep cranking as you are only torturing your starter. Make...
