    Back up lights?

I use my Deuce at night a lot, sometimes in thick woods or tight places. I really need to install some good back up lights. Has anyone come up with a nice setup that looks like it "belongs" on a Deuce? Any suggestions appreciated. CBVET

    What's This Receptacle For?

While putting the winter grill cover on my M35A2, I noticed a small receptacle by the right headlight. Facing the truck, it is above & to the right of the headlight. It has a spring-loaded cover & a single wire going directly to the battery +terminal. What's it for? I know, somebody's going to...

    Hy-Per Lube

Contacted a local Lubricants dealer, looking for GL1. He was telling me about a product he sells called Hy-Per Lube. Claims it should be added to engine oil, gearboxes, & differentials. Says it is similar to the "original" STP, in that it sticks to gears, bearings, seals, etc, so that there is...

    Military part number?

Picked up a cable. Heavy rubber 14/12 conductor. Has male & female ends with spring-loaded covers. I thought it was an extension cable for a trailer light hookup, but not quite. I believe one end will fit into my deuce trailer outlet with a little rubber lube. The other end is NOT a trailer plug...

    Trucks at Kokomo Veterans Reunion!

Went to the annual Vietnam Veterans reunion in Kokomo Indiana again this year. This was my 23rd time. Drove my Deuce the 90 miles. There were 2 Vietnam gun trucks, Wild Thing, & Psychotic Reaction. We would occasionally parade through the park, giving rides & getting our pictures taken. Great...

    Insulated Winter Cargo Cover

When I bought my first Deuce, it came with the Winter Cargo Cover installed. It looked good on the truck. Problem is, you can't readily roll up the sides for parades & such, so we took it off in favor of a vinyl cover. Upon removing it, we discovered it needs repair. There is a second layer of...

    Tips on 5 ton M812?

Spotted an M812 at a truck lot. I'm used to my deuce. This thing with the 14:00/20's is BIG! All I know right now is that it looks good & I was told it "will run down the road". What should I look for? Any guesses as to value? Your advice would be appreciated. Eric

Proper way to tie down cargo cover etc?

Does anyone know where I might find instructions on the proper military tie-down of cargo covers & end flaps on a Deuce? Must be a manual somewhere. Thanks, Eric

    Knuckle boot/grease

Finally got around to replacing a torn knuckle boot. I seem to recall someone "guesstimating" it would take about 2.5 tubes of grease. Would you believe closer to 7?! Seven tubes X average 270 "pumps" per tube = A LOT Eric

    Trailer electrical connector?

Anyone know where I can get a trailer connector (plug) which will fit my Deuce trailer outlet? Want to set up a civilian trailer with 24 volt bulbs. Thanks, Eric

    Pumpless!

It seems to me that I recently saw something about a multifuel Deuce running without the in-tank fuel pump working. Never really thought about it, as I figure my Deuce runs well. Doing a little PM today, I wanted to drain the primary fuel filter. I'd guess it hasn't been drained since I got it...

    Testing sprage?

Finally got the clutch & rear main seal in the 1952 gas M35. Runs great! Any suggestions as to an easy way to test the sprage to see if it's engaging? (Sprag? Sprage? Sprague?) I'd rather not get it stuck in a sand dune to test it. We have stuff here they call "sugar" sand. You can go through it...

    Winch for Deuce?

Have a 1970 M35A2 with no winch. Just came across a 5 ton dump in a local scrapyard. Engine is gone, but a lot of other parts are still there, including the winch. I see that the winch driveshaft comes from the right (passenger) side. On my 1952 Stude M35 gas, the winch driveshaft comes from the...

    Memorial Day in Northern Indiana

Starke County Indiana has a population of under 25,000. But our VFW in Knox Indiana works very hard to remind everyone what Memorial Day is all about. Veterans, current military, firefighters, & police officers will stand guard for a 24 hour vigil. There will be a POW-MIA candlelight service...

    Electrical - SAFETY!

While doing some electrical work on my M35A2, I remember an incident that happened in VietNam. One of our mechanics was working under the dash on a Deuce. I think he was replacing the 3-lever light switch. He didn't think it necessary to disconnect the batteries on such a simple job. He got his...

    Will XM211 winch fit?

Does anyone know what it would take to install a winch from an XM211 on an M35A2? I can get the XM211 for a pretty good price. Body is very good. Perfect radiator. Good wiring. Engine won't turn, although starter "tries". Could anyone use any of the other parts? Eric
