    MEP-8xx S1 and S6 switch variations

I'm going to revive an old thread here. I'm looking inside 2 newer units, one a 2011 and one a 2010, both with version 2 of the switches in them. Both have under 30 hours and I'd guess that to be right as both are spotless inside. I have a 2009 unit sitting here with version 3 of the switches in...

    Parts 803a a (making it a runner)

I do have both doors available if you still need them.

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

I received my switch from Davidson today and installed it. Worked perfect! I can confirm it looks exactly like the picture and is indeed a two prong switch.

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

I wonder if a similar issue is causing the problems on these. I did find also the switch on an 803a is a 2C from Nason and the third terminal just isn't used on those. Might work to test a unit in a pinch if you have both.

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

That is the same NSN I have. GMG crosses it over to Nason SM-2B-15F which is the same part number that is on both of the switches on mine. Nason does make MM switch with virtually same specs so that is probably what is shown in the pictures. Either the LM, MM, or SM switch would work as long as...

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

I did. I couldn't find it in stock anyplace other than GMG and no way was I going to pay $100 for this sensor. Other places had it available, but it was back-ordered till at least April. That's why I decided 1psi different was not a big deal.

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

According to Nason's specs anything labeled 2B would be 1/8" NPT and SPST-NC. That would be 2 terminals. 2C would be the same size but with 3 terminals. I'm sure it could be made to work but why go through the trouble. See attached literature to decipher Nason part number. Also, are you sure...

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

I did see very similar switches when I was looking, but to keep the wiring harness the same I went with a Nason switch. If you don't mind cutting off the connector and crimping a spade connector on these would work fine. Shipping was about the same and I'd expect to pay around that to have...

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

Also, that shipping on mine was for 2. I'd rather have one on the shelf than wait if one goes out

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

Did you change it to USPS instead of UPS? Mine was like $9 to ship which is about normal

The no backorder was what sold me!

Not sure on the rules of direct links. Try davidsonsales. If you can't find it I can pm it to you

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

If anyone else runs into a need for this low pressure sensor there is one that is 1psi different and readily available for cheaper. SM-2B-014F - Nason Pressure Switch 14 PSI F Google that and it will get you there. It's 14psi instead of 15psi but looks to be identical other than that on all...

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

Reset tags both say 2 hours and that is what is on both hour meters. Both engines are brand new. There wasn't even a single drop of oil spilled anywhere in the units. The generator heads had some age to them, but other than that these things looked brand new. My guess was that they had new...

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

Thanks guys. It's a bad pressure switch. I was reading TM and nothing seemed to make sense why it would work and then quit. I pulled the switch from the running unit and put it in the non running unit and it worked perfect. These engines are brand new so had to have been defective and only...

831a oil pressure switch problem solved

I picked up a pair of 831s from auction. I want to use one to run instead of the 803 for just a lighting load. Both were tier 2 reset and the hour meters on both read 2 hours and this matches the hour count on the reset tags. One unit starts and runs nicely and seems to function as it should...

Anyone here load out of Lockbourne today?

As I was leaving someone else was too. They had a flatbed trailer with what looked like 5 803a and 8 831a on it. Was it a member here?

    GL Lost Surplus Contract

I talked to the guys at Lockbourne last week when I was down there for a preview. They are closing up April 20th. Being one of the last auctions things went for crazy money on the one that closed today!

    Generator connection choices

Hold the box up and mark your mounting holes. Predrill a hole big enough for small PVC or aluminum spacer. Make sure you stop the drill when you hit the wood! Take a sharpie and mark the drill bit at the wall. Put the drill out and measure and cut the spacer slightly less than the mark you made...

    GL Lost Surplus Contract

The only advantage is if someone is close to auction site to be able to look at the units. With only a couple locations the selection will be greater.
