Well ****, thats what I was looking for - cheap, hides alot of flaws (b/c i'm not going to blast the whole trailer - just scuff it) and an even finish for the work involved (i think - i'll look at it on my laptop when I get home - i'm sure this phone doesn't do it justice). Even with 5 gal, you...
So, was the texture like Carc or smoother? How thin did you have to make it in order for it to spray? I also have 2 of those same guns - I put a 20 oz aluminum cup on one and use it for better results (I keep this one alot cleaner). I have a couple of siphon guns too - one that I use for primer...
Oh yeah, I love latex too -never would have thought about putting it on a vehicle though. I guess an airless would be a cheap enough investment - might need to paint something at the house with it too.
OK, so did anybody use a regular paint gun instead of an airless sprayer? I saw a couple of people asking about it, but no responses. I have regular spray guns and no airless sprayer, but would like to get the Carc texture right on my trailers. On one previous post someone said that it might...
Definately true - a properly maintained and adjusted braking system on a trailer not only saves wear on your vehicle brakes, it COULD save your or somebody else's life if you have to make a panic stop with a loaded trailer. Any trailer that comes from the factory or aftermarket with brakes that...
Here's a couple of pics I just snapped. The rust along the front panel seam does not go all the way through that I can tell. Hopefully a little spot blasting here will be all the blasting needed - from what I've seen, it is. The racks might take a little sanding to smooth them out. A quick...
I checked today and it looks like the line might be pressed in the cap, or maybe just slides in? The broken piece is still in the cap. Is there a replacement cap availabe? I read a post giving replacement part substitutes and it said the master cylinder is the same as a '64 CJ5, so there should...
Well then he got a great deal then! The chains did reach, but they were a little tight for my likeing - I added 6 links counting the connecting links (about 8"). Plus the hooks wouldn't fit into the chain hook holes in the receiver.
Probably did get some water in there, because the vent line fitting is down in a depression, and the line is broken off at the fitting. Guess I need to pull the cap and get all that old fluid out and replace it before I test the brakes, huh?
Didn't think about sloshing - haven't tested the brakes yet either. Is the vent line like a brake line with a fitting to screw into the cap. I haven't really looked at it in depth yet to see if I can make something or need to buy it. Figured I might put my 4 wheeler in it (for a little weight)...
I was definately prepared - had an extra 100# of stuff inthe back of the expedition. Well worth the effort though! I should have stayed and watched the excitement since I had some extra time. Could have checked out some of the future auctions too. I'll get a few pics tomorrow. She is overall...
I tried my new wiring harness out today. I ended up using the butte connector to military plug pin method, as the 2 military vehicle side plugs I had were too far gone. The turn signals were great, but the parking and brake lights were very dim - too dim to use safely. I know it is supposed to...
I picked up my trailer today, pinning the surge brake out of service (I used a 3/8" x 5" grade 8 bolt and locking nut - $.72 at Tractor supply, versus a $3 pin. 4" would have worked). When I got home (about 70 miles) I noticed the master cylinder and the area around it was wet. Upon inspection...
I really was expecting to be there alot longer, but no security check + a ready to go trailer made it quick and painless. I would really have liked to see that D7 sitting in my yard more than the trailer, but the 1st Sergeant said the guy paid $44,000 for it and was complaining (on the phone)...
Well, I went to get the trailer this morning. Left the house at 0630 - had to be there at 0800. No security check whatsoever - the guard told me exactly where to go. I got around to the GL area and the 1st Sergeant was helping the GL guy to get a Cat D7 that wouldn't turn left out of the fence...
