From the bracket holes is the passenger side dash and the footman loops on the right front fender I would say your A2 used to be a TOW jeep. Nice lookin rig,I was in the 11th ACR from 84 to 87 and drove 1/4 tons as well. I guess we chewed some of the same dirt.
Can't make the convoy this year my son is getting married that day, the household 6 done put the word down that I am not even to think about skippin out. May just cut holes in the floorboard and turn it into a Flintstone mutt, if so it should be ready by Petit Jean time.
At least I ain't got no...
I think this one was a standard AMG A2 built in 1973 then modified to TOW Jeep in 1974, then later in its life back to A2 config, but you are right it was a TOW jeep at one time.
Spit rims are easy, ya just gotta respect them. Over inflation by numbnut privates has probably caused 95% of the accidents with these wheels.
Now about the slack, I don't recall any in mine, call Lewis he has forgot more about deuces than we will ever know[thumbzup]
Hope it don't take as long for you as it did on mine, took the previous owner about 6 years to think about it in my case but it all worked out in the end:beer:
Thanks Sam, she is fine I believe all will be ok. Thanks again for the radio gear, been taking the rops out of the M151 today that thing is whoopin me!
Did I miss something Sam? Good to see all again, kinda slow this year not so many people. We had a good time and I sold lots of junk, got a great field desk from MWMULES sorry they didn't buy that tent from you Jim.I had to scat early Saturday, about 1600 as my mom is in the hospital.
I will be there Tursday afternoon and will have Fort Creason set up by 1800 hrs I will be there till they throw me out or Sunday morning whichever comes first[thumbzup], cold beer and lots o parts to sell at my Fort. I sure could use one of those tents Jim,
Good lookin rig,I have passed on a couple as I just don't have the need for one. Me and Ted were just talkin about you the other day, the deuce is still lookin good!
All this Bradley bashing:-( I actually opreated 3 different versions over about 15 years in peace and in war, seemed like a good vehicle to me. The M242 Bushmaster 25mm cannon is one of the best weapon systems this country has ever produced!
The calibre of soldier in the tank is more important than the vehicle itself! I still say we could have traded vehicles with Iraq back in 91 and the outcome would have been the same. As stated above these are the export versions of the M1 no chobram armor and a different fire control system...
The Army quit using air restriction gauge years ago, we quit writing them up on 2404"s about 20 years IIRC, it's kinda useless anyway if you service your air cleaner as per -10
