Myself I would not even worry about the rubber dust boots not worth the trouble. Spray some penetrating oil on the line nuts once and awhile and clean with brake fluid and air before you remove the lines if you ever have too. Find something else that's needs fixing more than the rubber dust boots.

Guess what ever works for you. I use tire soap on the O ring and tire bead plus valve stem and so far no problem. Main thing I look for is trash in the O ring seat or damage to the outer ring. I make sure the tire bead is clean of all rust / dirt and have used sand paper or scuff pad to get it...

My .02 don't replace you boots with leaking or older style axle seal that leaks gear oil into the boot and sits there. Don't fill you knuckle with grease that sits in the boot / knuckle and breaks down the rubber if you have cross style U joints. Don't use any boots made in China.
