Yes that is a GM factory skid plate. CUCVs have 208s and the HD models had 205s but no 203 were used that is the civy full time 4wd transfercase from the 70s. My 79 GMC Jimmy (Blazer) had a NP203.

If you are going to replace the springs then it is also a perfect time to consider a mild lift to accomidate larger tires and help compensate for the 4.56 gears and high rpm on the highway.

Turns out since I swapped in a civy dash harness to gain full gauges the black w yellow trace wires were not mating. Had to remove the wire from the headlamp harness bulkhead connector and the civy glowplug harness connector and mate them separately. Works perfect now. - thanks

Yes, you need to swap the regulators and of course the new one will require power run to it. I sourced the complete set up from a local person parting out a Blazer but still need to install it.
