I'm still using both types in the service. The (X07 black and X09 gray) locks have a built in generator to power up the LCD display. Spinning them several times turns on the display.
Turn the dial several times counterclockwise and stop on the first number
Turn clockwise to the next number...
Don't know if it will make a difference but I always start the clearing spin cycle counter clockwise stopping on the first number.
On your last number and then turning back to zero...once you reach zero push in on the lock dial to release the lock internally and continue the turn clockwise and...
I put one in my CUCV too. If you want intermittent wipers you'll need a different wiper motor and the wiper module that goes between the dash wiring and the column wiper wiring. Found mine on an 87 Custom Deluxe Crew Cab and I also swapped over the better wiper arms with intregal washers, washer...
Yes that is a GM factory skid plate.
CUCVs have 208s and the HD models had 205s but no 203 were used that is the civy full time 4wd transfercase from the 70s. My 79 GMC Jimmy (Blazer) had a NP203.
Never found the FOD, but it was something threaded or ribbed. Block was also cracked so I bought a donor truck and swapped motors, parted most of a complete CUCV 6.2 out and more than paid for my replacement engine.
If you are going to replace the springs then it is also a perfect time to consider a mild lift to accomidate larger tires and help compensate for the 4.56 gears and high rpm on the highway.
Doubt there are any S-318s left in service since everything was for the M8XX, M10XX or Humv in the last 32 years of my career.
S-318: 73" x 71" x 67"
S-250: 87" x 80" x 71"
All the services have used commercial ambulances in this variant. I've seen them in od green and the white configuration on many bases.
Also over the last 30 or more yrs of my USAF career it pretty rare to see anything painted Air Force blue. We now see factory colors as most of the vehicles...
Please report back when you do this and also on how well the LMC parts fit. The few NOS GM parts I find online must be gold plated because they are offly proud of them.
Sounds like you have a plan. We lost authoization for the shelters a few years ago and the Depot Shelter Team had just put an aluminum diamond plate floor in a few and replaced all the door seals and then painted all of them so they were too nice to DRMO them. So we swapped ours with the junk...
I've got experience installing Fredders 25K BTU A/C units in S-280 shelters.
First we line the cut out openings of the shelter with 4 pieces of aluminum channel which is counter sunk riveted to the shelter skin.
Then using 3 pieces of aluminum angle we come out the hole on each side and tie...
Turns out since I swapped in a civy dash harness to gain full gauges the black w yellow trace wires were not mating. Had to remove the wire from the headlamp harness bulkhead connector and the civy glowplug harness connector and mate them separately. Works perfect now. - thanks
dstang97,
I'm having a Low Coolant Lamp issue. WHen you turn the key the low coolant light comes on for the test and then goes out. When you start the engine, it comes back on and stays on indefinetly.
Can you tell me the steps you took to solve your problem. I realize yours was not coming...
-SOLD- I happen to have one left. Sandblasted and POR15'd.

Yes, you need to swap the regulators and of course the new one will require power run to it. I sourced the complete set up from a local person parting out a Blazer but still need to install it.
Pickup a 4wd Magazine at the local store. It's chuck full of advertising. You just need a lift for an 84 K5 Blazer, pretty generic. Rancho, Rough Country, Superlift, Tuff Country, Skyjacker etc all make the lift kit for this application.
I had already installed a tilt wheel out of a junk yard that had the intermittent switch already in the column and obtained the intermittent module at the same time. I swapped wiper motors with the crew cab donor to eliminate the washer pump intregal to the motor as well.
Column Switch...
