I would not wire it this way you are wasting half of the watts of the high watt element you just bought as Roadracer mentioned.
Those are 240 volt elements so L1 and L3 need to go to each terminal respectively then you will get the full load out of each element and you can drop a lot in wire...
What liftman said is true however he is talking about the hydraulic motor for running the tilt, up down, and side shift functions. That is a different motor than the one that runs the hydraulic power steering. And then there is yet one more motor the big one that is for moving the entire truck...
Nope it all comes from the same gen head and wingdings. Hook up the heater to the main lugs and see what happens. Sounds like you have two voltage regulators that are misbehaving.
I have a couple of clark ES-90 electric forklifts. There is not sound when they are on until you select forward or reverse then it starts the power steering hydraulic pump which continues to run until you select neutral position again. Id imagine the hyster is the same way when you push that...
Well there are a few other ways that are indeed easier however I question safety with the methods involved. Youl could get two large electrodes like say steel pipes and hook them both to one of the hot leads coming out of the generator ie. L1, and L3 in single phase mode. You could then fill up...
There are numerous threads about this id suggest a little search.
However to answer your question yeah its pretty easy to load test one of these units. Just get a 55 gallon drum or old pressure tank or plastic drum or some type of water vessel that you can cut holes on the side into. Weld in...
I have not removed the governor however I have a 701a awaiting restoration along with my 803a if I ever get around to it. Im still trying to get the fuel cutoff solenoid on the 701a to work so I can at least get it to start. So I eagerly await your photo documentation of the removal and rebuild...
Bout an 803 about a year ago now has about 2800 hours on it 93 model. Have not really had time to get to it for various reasons. Every now and then I go out there and look at it and poke around. I did notice it was missing the field flash switch so got one of those on order. STill gotta get some...
SO what your saying is the voltage at the generator does not stay at 240v now as you mentioned it did in the original post? If so and you already have another VR board I would just change it out and retest to rule out symptoms. Sure sounds like the Voltage regulator to me as others here have...
Did everything keep working in the house?
What typically causes this type of problem is a loose connection to the L0 terminal or the neutral wire. If you lose the neutral wire the two legs of the 120 will become unbalanced and you will get something like the 85 volts on one leg and the other...
So just as an update.
I called quantum controls and ordered up one of the switches. The part number is as follows.
S14 switch in the mep-803a, part # SDS1008821091 switch. Thanks again for all the help now gotta wait for it to come and then onto the next problem.
Lee
Thank you so much for the detailed response. I had no idea that was not another relay to be honest before I read this thread I was just going to order another one of the relays like the other five for bout 20 bucks and pop it in there. Sounds as though it is a pretty specialized switch to just...
So this has been a great thread to follow and since we were already talking about relays my 803a is missing the relay at the far left as you can see in the pictures I posted. Would one of you that does have this relay i believe it is S14 be so kind as to take a close up photo of the writing that...
Will it fire on a little bit of ether. Be careful not to much so you dont knock out a rod or somethin.. I assume you have verified that the injector pump is indeed putting out fuel, sounds like it is since your getting white puffs of smoke.. Sounds like its just to cold to start might have to...
The primer switch has nothing to do with the fuel pumps. It simply activates a solenoid that allows ether to be injected into the motor for really cold starts. That is what that hose clamp and fitting are for next to the day tank. Glad you got er running.
I picked up an 803a out here in cali for bout 800 bucks several months ago. Has 2200 hours on it supposedly. SO far its just a large paper weight have not had time to even start to dive into the project, not in to bad a shape cabinet little bent in a couple areas and some slight rust on the gen...
That is what I was thinking, most likely the screen in the fuel pumps is really clogged up I would take those both out and clean them. They just twist unlock and pull apart at the bottom is a screen on both of them that should be cleaned out. Then Id check and make sure your solenoid valve on...
What happend with this did you end up replacing it again and did it fix the problem?
I too have had this problem I bought a special tool that squeezes the seals down when you install them so you dont hurt the leading edge of the cup which can damage the seal. have you to see if it has fixed my...
