Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Who said anything about a mill? I do everything by hand with a grinder lol. And actually I'm not going to make the ground in the solid I don't think. I'm going to weld lips on the bottom to locate front and rear. As far as boots go I think I'm going to flip the bolts over for better ground...

    U bolts up or Down?

Ok so I have a question and haven't found it here at all. For all you guys bobbing your trucks.... are you running your u bolts up or down? I come from the jeep world and we always did anything we could to gain ground clearance and less snagging underneath. I have seen it done both ways on...

Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Ok this may be a dumb question but since I don't have my truck yet I have to ask. Why is there two holes in the shim? I think I might try and make my own perch sorta like the one in the prints peashooter has provided. Using a 3/4" flat plate and then welding on little nubs to locate it front...

Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Yeah just because it's easy doesn't make it right. And I surely will Toby, it's going to be a few weeks but I will get it done. We just had 10" of snow and now this morning another 2" with 1/4" of ice and we are supposed to get more snow this weekend.

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

When you figure the windows out let me know cause I think my truck does it too...... Also Idk how far you opened you wallet up for the snorkle but I just got this one for $35 from ebay. Granted it came from Malaysia and took two weeks to get here but I'm extremely happy with it. It's only going...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Yes..... that's a majority of what we use at work. It's much stronger then er70s-6 and runs very nice and clean. But we still use shielding gas. It's a requirement by some railroad specifications where are trailers run.

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Ok so here is the front mounts. They turned out great I think. 6 1/2" mounting bolts and it's made out of 1/4" plate. Now as far as the rear I'm not sure yet. I want to make it removable but the idea I had I'm not sure if it will work. It will depend on the angle from the front mount if it...

Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Idk I thought you ground the one edge and still flipped them around? I'm hoping my truck has the 4* wedges so I can just flip them.

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Ok so the front mounts are done. But I can't decide on the back mounts. On top of the axle or on the bottom? I thought about making a bracket and using smaller u bolts to attach it to the axle. What do you guys think?

Ways to make a deuce quieter and warmer in the cab.

I don't think it really matters what you do. It's still a big truck and prolonged periods of use will require ear plugs

Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Ok so traction bars are done. Just have to build the mounts for the front and I'm going to use 3/8" angle in the rear to help protect the bushing from rocks. I used 1 1/2" schedule 80 structural pipe. It was about .040" over 1 1/2". They are 5 feet long. Here is some pictures.
