I'm a little worried about spare tire placement with 46" tires. Would one fit horizontally where Gerhard put his? I don't have a truck yet to see frame and drive line clearances under there.

"9-2320-386-10 Allison AT-1545P automatic transmission ratios: first 3.45 to 1 second 2.25 to 1 third 1.41 to 1 fourth 1.10 to 1 reverse 5.02 to 1 The transfer case and axles ratios are the same as they have been for the M35, M35A1 and M35A2. They are: transfer high 1to 1...

    Transmission options

Stretch I have considered an overdrive unit for the rear drive shaft only. Effectively you would have a 25 - 28% reduction in r.p.m.'s for the highway but would not be able to engage the front axle while using this. The p.t.o. would operate as normal and front wheel drive would still be...

Thanks Jones! Yes any information would be great... Did the length of the Allison pose any problems? What are its gear ratio's?

    Transmission options

In my reading I keep finding little clues as to what other transmissions may be compatible with the Deuce with some modification. I have no idea what other options there might be out there but I started this thread as a query for any information you might have as well as a place for me to stick...

    Noise level for dogs?

Thanks Deuce... For the heat I'm planning on a cargo cover and the dogs will be in an enclosure of some kind to keep them secured so hot metal or direct sun shouldn't be an issue. Airflow might be a problem though. Of course the last time I tried to put the big one in the enclosure (117 lbs.)...

    Noise level for dogs?

Is the Deuce loud enough to hurt my dogs if the ride in the back for camping trips? I have no idea how I could protect their hearing or make them wear intercomm headsets! I will have to think of some way to keep them cool back there in this 100 deg. heat as well...

    Upgrade an LDT?

I wonder what the fuel consumption difference would be? I know the LDS is rated to burn some 30 lbs. per hour more fuel, but that would be if installed in a 5 ton truck. How many LDS engines and parts are available out there?

Wouldn't the NDT's dry pavement traction limitation be the harder rubber compound used? They would probably last longer though.
