I haven't seen one of those before. It looks like one might be just about the right size for something like my MEP-003A genset, and the ability to move the lunette for different vehicle sizes looks awesome! Up-bidding to a more fair price was a class act, too, and the final price was still a...
It wouldn't hurt to get some caging bolts ahead of time in case the ones on the crane aren't already caged, and their caging bolts are missing or rusted into place in the storage tubes. Are caging bolts all the same, or do they vary for different kinds of cans? My air-brake experience is limited...
Here's the next challenge: I'd like to see a small vehicle in the back of a bigger vehicle, which is in turn in the back of an even bigger vehicle! Extra credit if the third vehicle isn't a semitrailer, because that would be too easy.
I'm looking forward to experiencing air wipers that actually work! [thumbzup]
I sure do drool over that HEMTT, Bruce! I don't know if I'd want one for real, but they sure are cool to dream about.
Now, for my next cart-before-the-horse speculation on the truck I don't even have yet: Shall I...
Good advice in my opinion, Brian! I'm also under the impression that the punishment for driving out of class is pretty harsh, though I don't have a real citation to back that up.
Your mention of every trip being for maintenance or display reminds me of an Independence Day several years ago when...
Now that you have been anointed with the sacred black diesel oil, you are one of us! We don't have a secret handshake or anything... we just stink of diesel fuel.
If I'm not getting fuel, then what's the stuff that squirts out of the input line to the hydraulic head when I loosen the fitting with the in-tank pump running?
Thanks!
I found this thread about removing, repairing and reinstalling the hydraulic head. I hope I won't need to do that, but I have a feeling that I will...
No, I did not put new fuel in it. Can diesel go bad enough in the tank to not ignite at all while starting, particularly in a multifuel engine? The stuff that's in it doesn't smell great, but I've smelled far worse coming out of a fuel tank... a friend has a mule, and I suspect that the only way...
P.S.: Also, there's very little on my wrecker that doesn't need fixing... I think that installing a knuckleboom on a well-running truck will be less work, even if I need to fire up my welding torch!
Towing it would be a problem, because it's parked in a pretty tight spot. I'd prefer to get it running so that I can carefully maneuver it around the nearby obstructions, such as the guy lines for my antenna mast (40' GRA-4 mast suspending my 80m ham radio dipole). I don't really have anything...
That's exactly what I think about my M543A2. It looks awesome, it's fun to play with, and it has served me well for many lifts. It's also a pain to keep climbing down from the truck to handle the load and back up to operate the controls. And for this non-athletic guy who sits in front of a...
That crane looks beautiful! If I understand the load curves properly, it would do everything I need and much more, in any of the boom sizes shown in the pamphlet. I'm looking forward to reading about your installation! Do you mind sharing how much it cost you? It looks like NOS government...
Ok, here's the next update after struggling with the truck some more (and further ripping my ACU pants):
I get fuel at all six injectors now. I found that on the ones where I didn't get fuel before, it wasn't enough to just loosen the flare nuts. I had to unscrew them all the way and then tug...
212sparky:
I haven't checked the exhaust yet; but the truck does crank easily, and it catches for a moment with some ether.
I was wondering about the plunger being stuck in the hydraulic head, too. I haven't had that problem before and it's been years since I've read about it, so I'm not...
