I'm cross-posting this from my obscure blog so that somebody might actually see it, and comment on it! ;) The blog version has the pictures inline where they make more sense; this one has the same content, with most of the pics attached at the end.
I have a HMMWV, as astute viewers of my avatar...
Another common feature on USMC HMMWVs, based on my experience crawling over the Riverside Auto Auction collection back in 2000, is added drainage in the floor panels. The added drainage holes generally appeared to have been made with the vehicle's pioneer kit pick, a bayonet, gunfire, etc.
In addition to the tall air intake and exhaust pipe, the fording kit also routes all of the breather vents to a line going up the side of the intake pipe (if I recall correctly). There's a valve near the driver's right knee related to the fording kit; I don't recall exactly what it does. The air...
Thanks! I pulled the regulator back out, and confirmed that one of the pinion teeth broke off. Reading the return policy on the back of the LMC invoice, it doesn't appear that I have any recourse since I installed it before the piece of junk failed.
Pushing the window up manually from...
I hope that you don't mine my hitchhiking on this thread, but I'm having similar tailgate problems that didn't seem to justify a brand new thread.
Today, I tried to fix the endgate window mechanism in my M1009. From LMC, I ordered a new window regulator, both side channels (originals had no...
This is especially common with the older battery-operated vacuum tube based radios, which often take about a second to start transmitting after the operator keys the mic.
I presume that "mistakenly" winning one is similar to how I "accidentally" bought four of them a few years back.
"Oh, what the heck, let's throw low-ball bids on these six CUCVs. Maybe I'll win one of them for cheap?"
"What!? I won FOUR of the danged things?!"
:-|
This fun thread has inspired me to think up a name for my M1009. Considering how I "accidentally" won it and its three brothers in some over-zealous GL bidding, I shall name it:
POOR IMPULSE CONTROL
P.S. I thought "wheel chock" was funny; Rumblelina is a fine name; I'll keep some of those Hurt...
I've seen those brackets in his eBay store. I may end up fabricating/modifying stuff anyway, because the stock kit mounts the PLGR on the right side, which is less useful in civilian applications where the driver and the commander share the left seat.
Looks like the form software shrunk the -24P diagram, so here's an unshrunk version:
PLGR Installation Kit Diagram from HMMWV -24P TM » Mark's Green Pages
I just picked up an installation kit for mounting an AN/PSN-11 "PLGR" GPS receiver in the HMMWV. Part number is 57K3233, NSN is 2590-01-420-4179, and Mr. Google tells me that it's the "old" style of installation kit. I wild-guessed that it's probably more appropriate for my truck than the "new"...
Are these P2P thingies the same as the interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs) that are supposed to be available on the LOGSA site?
Incidentally, LOGSA seems to be down for me right now, and it has been every time I've checked it over the last week or so.
That mast is cool! I have a friend with a shorter pneumatic mast mounted on the back of his (civvy) van, which he uses to support simple wire antennas for various military HF rigs. I recently picked up one of the 38' CSA fiberglass push-up masts on eBay. It's pretty cool, but not as neat as the...
I not familiar with the Keller repeater. Would it likely be reachable from Riverside, Irvine, or points in between?
I'm also curious about that big antenna mast. It looks cool.
