Well, let's talk more after the weather and my lungs clear up. And to stay on topic, maybe you also need a deuce-sized shelter to go with it? I like that shelter a lot, but it's looking less likely that I'll use it as my primary home ham shack, and I would be happy to see it on the back of a...
My HMMWV and shelter will probably show up at a local show someday, but I don't know when. See, the problem is that when the inspector signed off the permit on my big barn during my home construction, the first thing I did was park my HMMWV inside. The second thing I did was to drag all of my...
Back when I lived in suburbia, I had my HMMWV in the garage and a 2.5-ton shop van in the driveway. The kids loved the trucks, and their folks didn't give me any crap.

Ok, now that I've caught up reading this thread (how did I miss it before?), I can share a bit about my own sheltery toys!
My first one is an S-250 that I bought from a friend (also a member here) with an almost complete AN/GRC-122B RTTY set inside. It had an RV air conditioner mounted in the...
The info for the picture states that the photographer found the truck abandoned. I have a guess about why it was abandoned!
Anyway, though I haven't edited anything on Wikipedia before, it's my understanding that there is no "they". If you see something that ought to be improved, you just do...
Thanks, Matt! I took a break from playing with my MVs for a while. Seems I have more hobbies than brain cells, so I can't do all of them at once.
On my first deuce, there were a couple of lugs that I spent hours getting free. Plenty of hammering away with my 3/4" impact wrench, penetrating oil, banging with a sledge to break the rust, and so forth. It took a lot of work, but they eventually freed up. I also had one hub with the wrong kind...
That cab upgrade looks great! I'd like to do something similar in my HMMWV. The original floor mats are missing, the center hump pads are ratty, and I'd like to quiet it down a lot. I'm also considering fabricating a 2-door hard top and hard rear wall. The ram air coming down the front of my...
It is a tach sensor, but it's just connected to the diagnostic connector for use by the STE/ICE-R equipment. There's no tach in the basic HMMWVs, at least in the first gen ones.
I have a tach gauge and mounting bracket that I got off eBay that's supposed to be for the HMMWV. I don't know which...
One of my airplane-owning friends gave me a barrel about half full of nasty old avgas. Well the barrel is just on loan, but the avgas is mine to play with. I figure I can use it to thin down the WMO I've been accumulating (about 3/4 of a barrel so far). I haven't tried filtering or using the...
I remember when I had leaky power steering. For a brief while before I worked out the kinks, I got pretty good at pulling over n the side of the road, fixing another leak that showed up, rebleeding the system, then continuing on my way.
Thanks! I'm especially excited about finally getting my T-368C on the air, after it's sat in one of my sea containers for about 4 years. Those ain't tubes... they're firebottles!
