Thanks for the pointer! The thread is what got me thinking about the M35A3 wipers, but I didn't want to hijack it before I knew whether my new truck would have electric wipers already.
...Ok, no mousies found in the air filter housing, and no mousie poops, either. The wire mesh on the mushroom kept them out of there. The filter is intact, and I didn't even get too much dirt out of it when I slapped it around in the breeze. So I think my air path is open, and the starting...
I'll go do that after I finish my soda. I figured that it must be getting air since it caught with some starting fluid, but I haven't pulled off the filter housing yet to check for squatters. Be right back...
Ok, silly question time... does an M923 have air-driven wipers like the deuces and older 5-tons I'm familiar with? I've never actually sat in one, and I'm wondering what will be in my M923 after my EUC clears and I pick it up. Yes, I bid on it based on the GL pics and video... you know what they...
I'm trying to wake up my M35A2C after it has sat for a few years, and I'm having a problem that I haven't dealt with before on the many deuces I've owned. I'm unable to get the engine to start, despite checking the things that have worked for me before. My search-fu has not enlightened me so...
I have had good results with the Pollak brand battery disconnect switches. They come in both keyed and unkeyed versions, and seem to be well-made. Note that the keys are all the same and are simple warded keys, similar to the Cat ones. When my house was being built and the guys on site didn't...
I feel your pain! It might have helped to go to a different DMV office if that's an option in your area. The approach I took was to smile a lot, be helpful and calm (none of which comes easily for me!), explain that I've been through this before and what the computer is going to demand, and I...
Same here, Harleighguy! California's licensing requirements are a bit inconvenient for deuce owners, and the registration is expensive if you don't take the Historical Vehicle route. Still, based on the accounts I've read from folks in other states, CA isn't such a bad place to register an MV...
Inspired by the various knuckleboom deuces and similar trucks that SS members have created, I have idly dreamt for many years about replacing my tired M543A2 wrecker with a knuckleboom crane mounted on a 900-series truck. That just sounds like a wonderful combination to me. My wrecker has been a...
I gave the -10 TM a first reading the other night, because I just won my first M923 in the GL auction on Thursday. I didn't see those valves mentioned, though I'll admit that I hardly skimmed the PMCS sections because I figure that they'll make a lot more sense once I have the truck in front of...
Back when I got my first 2.5-ton 6x6 in 1999, I carefully read the Cal. Vehicle Code sections related to licensing, and came to the conclusion that the weight and number of axles of a deuce puts it into the "class B" category for licensing under California law. There was no mention of any sort...
I don't know if this info is helpful to the original poster, but I'll note it here for folks who might find this thread in a search later: I measured the maximum hook height over ground to be 18 feet for my M543A2 wrecker, which is similar to the M936 but a couple of generations older.
Thanks for the info! I think I have a G503 account already, so I can go try to contact him.
It seems that I've resolved my dilemma of what to do with my HMMWV by the simple expedient of winning a nice (and not cheap!) M923 in a GL auction yesterday. So, that eliminated any silly idea of...
I've often wondered about the "3 M35A2 trucks turn into 2 M35A3” trucks anecdote. Is that just the average yield of good trucks that they get from the old ones turned in for the program, or is there some part of the third truck that they cut in half to use on the other two trucks, or what?
I've seen the Klixon brand associated with circuit breakers before, if my memory is correct. A google search suggests the brand is also associated with thermal switches. From the looks of it, that Klixon part might be either a circuit breaker or thermal switch, as I've seen both with similar...
Hmm, I'm not sure whether Kurt's ambulance is a 2-litter or 4-litter model. Looking at it again, I think it may be a 2-litter model. Those ones don't include air conditioning, right?
The engine may have a tag which indicates it was rebuilt, but otherwise I agree with gimpyrobb. The odometer and hour meter readings might not even make sense together.
