    disabling a deuce.... do you?

I'd chock at least one wheel on both front and back of the wheel and run a chain through the chocks to keep them there, in case your boy or one of his friend tries to "shift" that lever on the left side of the driver's seat!

    FAQ Thread for CUCV's

RE: Re: M1009 Key same as M1031? Hey, I want in on this horse-beating rank-building stuff, too! Yeah, we all know that the blank is B and the blind code is 73Y2. I hear rumors that those details are in a FAQ somewhere... most likely in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused...

    So Cal fall desert trip

It looks like y'all are going to have a great time, and I'm sorry that I can't make it this year. Please post tons of pictures when you get back! [thumbzup]

    Word to the wise.

Today I was disassembling the tailgate of one of my CUCVs, with the usual rear window regulator problems. I managed to get the window pushed down despite a stripped window regulator gear, opened up the tailgate and removed the inside cover. I found that the glass was no longer attached to the...

    My Four (!) New CUCVs

Yes. The battery box is under the passenger/commander seat. Well, actually it is the passenger/commander seat. The slave receptacle is on the front of the seat box, at the lower outside corner. Since it's not easily visible like on most other MVs, there's a plate on the outside that says "slave...

Your truck looks good! You clearly treat it well, and I hope that it will treat you well, too. Is your dad on this forum, too? If so, what's his screen name?

    govt liqidation is a mess

I got bitten by the "gotta scan the ID; FAX isn't good enough" thing, too, recently. The thing is, I tried very carefully to follow their instructions to the letter, and they said to FAX the ID in along with the rest of the EUC submission package. Grr. GL needs to update their instructions...

    Does airshift affect speed/power?

Re: RE: Does airshift affect speed/power? Hmm, that doesn't make sense to me. I can easily accept that one truck would have more power than another due to differences in engine condition and/or tuning, but if the two trucks show different RPMs at a given speed, then either they're geared...

    Learned something today!

Good job on avoiding bloodshed this time! I had a similar experience once, when I learned what happens when the accelerator return spring fails. Luckily I managed to keep a cool head and get the truck pulled over safely. I was on the way to pick up a trailer and commo shelter from a friend who...

Howdy From the Nose Art Chick.

Hi, and welcome to the forum! Dang, I wish I could find me a nice green-truck-liking girl! And she'd have to like dogs a lot, too, or else mine wouldn't let her on the bed! rofl I think that a Pinz would be a nice first MV for you. I don't have one (yet?), but I've liked the looks of the ones...

    New hmmwv member.

RE: Re: RE: New hmmwv member. Hi! Welcome to the site. Your truck looks good. The hand throttle control looks unusual to me; I have never seen one that looks like that.

    Throw these away or no.

The electrical adapter set is good stuff for anybody with an older MV with a gasoline engine and/or the old 25A generator. I think it's missing one of the larger cables for the charging system, but it has the timing adapters for tapping into the sealed ignition system. Definitely not junk!

Question about burning used Motor Oil as Fuel.

One of my deuces came from DRMO/GL with half a tank of red diesel in it. I haven't purged it out, I haven't put more than a dozen miles on it, I haven't refueled it, and it still has the same red fuel in it... even after siphoning about 10 gallons out to refill my Bobcat. :-) If and when I get...

    100% used motor oil fuel.

Have y'all noticed how dogs just love sneaking into pictures of MVs? Mine do it all the time! :D

    13G glow plugs

Re: RE: 13G glow plugs I found a few of the wrong Wellman's on my first try, but these look like the right guys here: http://www.wellmanautomotive.com/ They actually list the CUCV and HMMWV trucks in their PDF application guide! The complete part numbers are: CUCV: 6A843G070 HMMWV: 6A843G115
