My thinking was, if the AF or housing was the restriction, you might have noticed less smoke when you ran it as well because the fuel rate was turned up past the flow rate of the intake. Restriction gone=better combustion=less smoke=more power. To put it another way, you just got enough air to...
I think we were also seeing more issues on rebuilds throwing rods than non-rebuilt engines.
I thought someone was going to do a rod bolt failure analysis?
There has been speculation about the M35 air filter flow ratings as opposed to the 5 ton filter and the impact on the output.
How dirty was the filter, and how much have you turned it up?
Major score on the parts front! Looks like my cousins might have a 1970s Ford F600 on the farm that might be due to be put out to pasture. That would be steering column, gearbox, and pitman arm for the HF54 series power steering conversion.
There was much rejoicing.
Big toy that works to earn it's keep and fits my budget.
I can haul, tow, and drag anything on the farm... look cool in parades... make it through in bad conditions be they summer storms or blizzards... and I will never lose money on the investment even if I only sold it for scrap/parts.
Why...
Nobody is saying it CAN'T be done.
What I am saying at least is nobody has wasted the money/effort required to do it. Considering these pages are frequented by guys of the skills and financial backing to buy and rebuild tanks as a lark, that means something. It just isn't cost effective to...
I'm in serious need of a neutral dyno and 3 engines to end this retarded subject. Every six months we get half a dozen guys with the same spiel who think a bigger turbo, or an air-to-air will turn the LDT/LDS into a 300hp+ million mile engine. (Or some other variation on the theme)
It reminds...
The intake isn't the issue. You CAN get 250hp out of a multifuel... just before you lose a rod or melt a piston.
Look at the pulling tractors that have used these engines for some hints as to what breaks.
Checked my cold start at a balmy 20 degrees... Cranked like a champ and fired in less than 2 seconds. This was with mostly diesel and probably 25% WMO.
Very happy.
By "oil" I think he means brake fluid.
Sound like his shoes are out of adjustment or the airpack is bad. You have to "pump it up" to get a pedal, and then it's weak at best?
Start with the basics. You have no choice but to pull the covers and read the manuals to complete the upper and lower...
So... I picked up a new speedometer and noticed some fogging around the outer 2/3 of the face. It wasn't moisture. It's a side effect of either the rubber seal or the desiccant pack outgassing and reacting.
I pulled it apart. Yes, you have to take your time. Yes, it can be done.
I used my...
Ok.. minor updates. Solargizer installed and doing well.
Wiring harness issues are getting annoying. I'm going to give it another few weeks to source a few cannon-plugs and pigtails before I just use modern weatherpack connectors and call it good. I'll solder on wires directly to the flasher...
Wow...
That's one way to get an exploded view of the wheel assembly.
The guys are being generous by stopping you. Hug your family tonight. They could have been putting you in the ground.
This thread reminds me of an incident at work years ago when a young tech was disassembling struts and...
