Hydrogen torches work, there is just an explosion/leak risk, and the amount of gas made for the amount of electricity pretty well limits you to micro-torches. But I hear it's the cat patootie for brazing jewelry.
They are in for a bigger surprise than they think if they try to run ANY vaporized fuel in an LDS/LDT. If they get any real Hydrogen production anyway. (Which is questionable)
The detonation should be quite an eye opener.
I doubt they have noticed what they are doing to the cylinders in the...
If this is going to be a regular thing, just build a solar still. You could even run a solar pump to circulate the WMO/WVO through the system. the only difference between it and any solar water still is, the water you produce is your "waste" and the "Waste" is your de-watered "product."
So you...
I was toying with the thought of a ram and an orbital valve timed to the steering gear and run off a spur gear/chain/other linkage. Stock gearbox in place, but the ram would take the load as long as it was functional.
I decided the HF54 was cheaper and less complicated...
You know, a full-on SteelSoldiers rally filmed from a 1/4 scale "Sandy" Skyraider, F-4 or UH-1 would be very interesting.
That VR pilot system is AMAZING.
You do some really nice work. I never made it into 1/4 scale. But I always heard the bigger they are, the nicer they fly.
As for the Nobler, I built a Junior Nobler for 4H when I was a kid, and the kit was old then. (That was the late 1980's) and I picked up a Nobler Sr kit at a swap meet in...
He broke the outer main spar at the nacelle on the landing bounce. As rough as that was, it's a testament to the builder it didn't fall apart.
This makes me want to go build that Nobeler kit I have been hording since I was 12...
I saw FiFi last year and it was a huge treat.
The most shocking sighting for me was a J-Star at BTL in lowly Michigan. I was in a company truck going out to see a customer and it was a low overcast day. All of a sudden I see that big bird with the unmistakable pod on the bottom drop from the...
No hard feelings man. We're trying to look out for you.
There are some folks out there selling these things covered in rattle-can chrome and hacked up for $30k+ ...
...and mud boggers who have never checked the oil or wheel bearings and think "all diesels knock, why bother?"... after they...
The hydro legality/safety has been beat to death..even just in this thread.
That drag link can be made from 2 tie rods and a link as well and be legal. (as well as adjustable)
Jesusgatos, love the engineering, but I think you're taking the long way around for no real benefit on the steering...
Agreed, this sounds like a beat down nightmare at best. Scrap value.
Right now that's $1500 give or take for the weight of a chopped up bobber.
Good trucks can be had for $4000 all day long.
Minus the other axle they bobbed... -$400
Minus the missing parts, fenders, etc.... -$1000
Minus...
That's why I'm asking. I was wondering if it was worth saving for the Deuce, or too much trouble to mess with. I'm not excited about the ethanol, but I figured the old gasoline would cut waste oil nicely, and the old diesel could be treated and filtered (I think they call it polishing?) by...
This won't have to see a highway. I can make the whole trip on back roads as it's only about 20 miles from the homestead. Honestly, it's a one time run and the IBC container is as strong as any "legal" plastic gas can. While I would love to find a better way to be 100% safe from some ticket...
Damaged paint at Home Depot runs $7 a gallon... and if you ask nicely they will re-tint it for you. So, if you have a paint job in the future, you might consider keeping your eyes peeled for the discount shelf this spring. (As long as you don't mind a color that is not perfect)
So far a have...
The gasoline smells like 5 year old gasoline.... varnish supreme. I was in the test cell and only was able to whiff what came out of the line, but it was borderline nasty. I'm thinking it's either pre-ethanol, or the ethanol has precipitated out of solution.
If I get the greenlight I'll give...
I had a conversation this afternoon with a man looking to get rid of old fuels... he's checking with his boss to give me the green light, but there is between 350-1000 gallons of gasoline, diesel, oil, and alcohol. All of it at least 6 years old.(separate tanks)
I have the M35a2... but what...
