Hey all, I'm looking to buy a bulk load of insulating material- to do the underside of the hood, and the side panels for the engine. I think that will make a big difference not only in winter heat retention, but in noise reduction. Also, I want a bunch to make an insulating liner for the soft...
very cool! I'm curious how the brake system was plumbed up. Is it in addition to the stock air over hydraulic, or was it used exclusively? If in addition how did they route th fluid?
hello Spruce Mountain, welcome aboard!
It's very cool looking, don't get me wrong, the steerable axle would be trick too. It's just, well, so small it can't possibly be a deuce! you know what I mean. Guess it's easier to start with a deuce that's already laid out, has way tougher frame and...
hey, thanks for the pics stefos! big help
well, that seals it, I ordered the NOS kit from Saturn today. A big chunk out of my wallet, but I need heat! I was going to wait for spring when Joe YOung could try to assemble a kit for me, but I really wanted the NOS one, and ASAP. So, I bit the...
well, I'm not advocating you lie by any means, but I'm saying a) don't give them any more information than you need (for example, don't say it's a commercial cargo truck, or cargo hauling truck, etc., I missed a few policies for saying it was a cargo truck) If they ask what the GVWR is, tell...
so how's she running now? Wasn't there something baout it needing a head gasket? She's a beaut, they're all beauties, aren't they?
Just checking- did you get that lever I sent? Hope it made it through the mail system alright
very good, thanks. So then when they said the CUCV was based on the 3/4 ton, it was the "heavy duty three quarter ton with 1 ton front axle", or, in other words 1 ton. Cool [thumbzup] thanks
Kenny- you should order the Selectros from our own Joe Young:

that's shipped, too
I plan to when I get some funny money [:)]
I believe Trango reccomended Ouverson, don't quote me on that. I know somebody did a while back, said they did great...
I am about to order up a kit, and wanted to know a) if it really was worth it. WITH the winter cover over the radiator, what is the real world time before you see any heat in the cab? I want the NOS kit partly because it is a "correct" install, partly because I have found no other good...
well, you could take the turbo off. Won't lose much power, the only reason they added the turbo was because the NA motors belched such a large amount of black smoke :)
you could also cut your stack way down, but damn, don't know why you'd want it any louder, I can't stand the noise mine makes...
ahh, yeah, no need for heat down there :) here's the Spruce Mountain page with the bracket:

that's something I can probably make pretty easily, though that is a nice piece.
