    FWIW, a couple years ago I bought a AD244 alternator from a junk yard for $40. It is an extremely common 2 wire alternator found in newer style ('01+) full size GM trucks/SUVs. I'm sure you could buy a 1 wire alternator with a V groove pulley for the same price or less if you looked at junk...

    24v winch on a 12v vehicle

    Warn, Ramsey, etc. offer hydraulic winches that run off of your power steering in the 18k range. I believe they use 12v for the remote control.

    You could bob it, spend less money on rims/tires, and be able to use chains with any size tire you put on.

    Beautiful work. I'll get to that point someday. What's the big deal with 1 wire alternators though? Why not use a 2 wire alternator that monitors battery charge levels and doesn't require being spun as quickly to charge?
