Shorted post on Alt 2 on bracket-melted two wires-need advice

In preparing for next weekends rally at Haspin, I was putting in a new temp gauge like camogriz did in his truck. I was placing the sensor in the water pump location since that's the only place this sending unit would fit and I could keep the light as well. Anyways, I took the belt off the...

    2014 Fall Haspin Rally

Well, I might have just screwed up my plans to come. What started out as a simple temp gauge install turned nasty. While pivoting the alternator off to the side so I could access the water pump I went to slide it back over (batteries still hooked up and boot still in place on alt) I pushed it...

    2014 Fall Haspin Rally

Just added it to my calendar. It doesn't look like we have a football game that weekend so my son and I will try to make it! Will be in the m1008! I'm in Cicero so I plan to drive through Noblesville on 38 over to Pendleton, to IN 109, across 40 for a bit and then down 3 to 52. Probably just...

Need help with heater cable assembly part number

Should be fine. In a pinch like gimpyrobb said, you can just manually move the doors where you need them. You can see the levers in the pics of fig 208. Since it's winter just get the blend door to hot (behind the glovebox) and flip the heater/defrost door to whatever you need at that time...

Need help with heater cable assembly part number

And actually now that I look at the TM again, it looks like they are labeled with the same number. I believe (but could be wrong) that both those cables are the same and universal. You just have to adjust them to function properly. It's a very simple setup.

Need help with heater cable assembly part number

One is for the blend door (temp control) and the other is for the heater/defroster selector (feet or windshield). Are you looking at page 450 in the 20p?

    goldneagle's 1985 M1008 recovery and restoration thread...

Looking good. I've been tooling around with the idea of the Duplicolor bed armor do-it-yourself kit. Maybe also using it in the cab and inside the rear fenders, etc. If I buy the spray gun that hooks to my compressor I'm looking around $150-$200 depending on how much 'paint' I need.

Nice work! Maybe put the inch lb ones in red tho. We don't need anyone tightening their trans pan bolts down to 160 ft lbs rofl

    New M1008 owner

Nice looking truck! I just picked up my first one a couple weeks ago. Yours looks a little goofy with both those front shackles tho. If you want, I'll take one off your hands and even pay for the shipping

Need help with heater cable assembly part number

It looks like the -0638 is the correct one for these trucks. For 30-1455 there is a note in the top corner under the picture that says the cable is adjustable for all models (assuming that means w/o a/c.) You could always call them and ask.

    m1009 reverse lights not working

Thanks doghead, this is exactly the info I need for my 1008 (and I found it by searching ) I was replacing my tail light lenses and checking the bulbs while I was at it. I had my son put it in reverse and noticed the lights would blink, but not stay on. Looks like an adjustment is...

    Temp sensor - replacing

Nice work. A little heat shrink or at least some black tape or liquid black tape would help keep corrosion out of those splices.

HMMWV water temp gauge retrofit in a M1009?

Love this setup. Been reading a lot of threads about gauges and these are my favorite OE look so far. I see the water temp sensor online, how did you connect the oil pressure? Is this gauge mechanical or electric? If electric, would a standard GM gauge sensor work or does it have to be...
