    M101 Q's

See http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/36909-pic-request-m101.html#post403646. I sawed off the original hubs and welded on front spindles from a '75 Bronco to get 5 on 5 1/2 wheels. Decide where to cut by how wide you want the end product. Make sure that you plug the hole where the axle...

    M35A2 Fuel Pump Fuse Location

Take a look at this thread: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/dead-fuel-pump-need-help-fast.38594/#post428087 A dead in-tank pump seems to be rather common. I would prefer to replace my dead one with an in-tank unit, and will eventually, but $$ dictated a cheaper solution. Arlyn

24v led jeep like 4wire flat lights

I don't know about "squarish that look like the jeep taillights" but here is a source on LEDs that you can use behind BOTH civilian and military because they take 12 to 38 volts: American SuperLite - Crystal Clear LED Lighting Systems You can get a full set of wires for under $20 including...

    Parting out new MKT

I have an MKT with an accompanying wish list: MISSING or DAMAGED: · 1 – Side screen, prefer older green canvas · 1 – Canopy section, prefer green vinyl · 1 – Pole that supports canopy and handrail WOULD LIKE TO UPGRADE OR TRADE: · Trade my NEW right side...

    24 Volt Chrismas light string

If you bought one for some other purpose that would work quite well, except that it isn't a good idea to put a load on one battery only. Otherwise, though my pockets are probably as deep as Carl's, they're empty. I lighted the VW when I was a starving student. Arlyn

    24 Volt Chrismas light string

Decades ago I put Christmas lights on a 12 volt Volkswagen. It isn’t very difficult and it will be even easier on a 24 volt system. If you take a 50 bulb 120 volt AC string and measure the voltage across a single bulb you will find out that because of voltage drop each light will have (120 /...

truck end of the trailer brake glad hands-standar or special?

Not to beat a dying horse to death, but I was at the storage yard where my equipment is kept today for the first time in several weeks and I looked at the glad hands on my ’66 M109A3, my ’86 M105, my ’96 MKT-85 (M103 frame) and my M105 that was rebuilt in 2006 with new hoses and new glad hands...

truck end of the trailer brake glad hands-standar or special?

This is what I have done. It does take a while to air up tires and you have to keep your engine running the whole time. I recently aired 2 tires on a trailer and my front deuce tires. I was dang tired of bending over before I was done!

Need some info on Rome Plows

They were special purpose bull dozer blades designed for clearing jungle, forest, etc. They got their name from their place of manufacture, Rome, GA. I suspect that there were many variations since the name really refers to the blade in front. The 15th Combat Engineer Bn, 9th Infantry Div...

Want 12 volt for radio ect.

Dito on the price. You might also look at Newmar’s DC-DC Converters – Standard Series – converts 20-50 VDC to 12 or 24 VDC for powering communication / navigation equipment, on negative ground systems. The standard DC to DC converters are ideal for powering voice, data and I'm not sure...

Why are these not for sale on GL

Interesting site! Why does its tab come up with 9th Infantry's patch as its icon? Arlyn Formerly of 15 CEB, 9th ID and 1/11th FA, 9th ID

    Towing A M105 Trailer?

There have been a couple of threads recently about towing M105s, but I’m not going to try to find them; I have school work to do. Basically an empty M105 weighs in at 2700 lb., easily handled by your F250. As you can see in the pictures below, they can be towed EMPTY fairly easily. That empty...

    Long-distance Deuce recovery question

Collect phone numbers of volunteers to help, wear hearing protection and take interstate highways when you can so that you don't block up the only lane. I soloed one 500 mi. towing my '69 Bronco. My current avatar was taken just outside the gate of Ft. Riley. Good luck, Arlyn

What should I do with my old bed.

I seem to do most of my best work that way, even in the daylight. I have thought that I’d like to be able to switch between a 109 bed and a regular cargo bed but you are 2200 miles from me.

    Roll bar

I was talking to a guy Saturday who was the sole survivor out of 14 in a deuce roleover during training in the late '50. He was hospitalized for 6 months with 42 fractures. Whatever you decide to do, start out by following Ken's advice. An ROPS might be real nice.

    M105 lunette removal

If you are in the middle of nowhere with no heat, no time to wait for a penetrant (WD-40, PB, etc) you might use the technique I used: First, make sure that the threads on the lunette are clean. File out any burrs that might damage the nut because the nut is impossible to replace. 1. Find...

    Titleing a m105

I titled an M101 as Homebuilt and it was easy, no $60 SF-97. Then, when SF-97s were free because GL was backed up, I decided to do it the “right way” with 3 M105s and 1 MKT-85. WHAT A HEADACHE! The biggest problem is that the Army does not assign a unique serial number to each trailer, like...

    Headlight location

Sounds workable to me. I'm trying to make it reliable and functional, not original I doubt if this one was ever flipped, but there is one thing that indicates something is in the wind, it has both an electric horn ("motorpool horn") and air horns. None of them work, but they are there. Arlyn
