cool, thanks. I got to looking and that l-bracket must be for the CUCV, not for my app. Cool, I'll just use the strap <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">
dang! sourced some 3 1/2" ID pipe, got her cut, cut out the old centers of the hubs, tacked on the new pieces, made some end plates, figured I'd better fit it up before welding and the dang things are just a tad too small! It clears the bearing nut no prob, it's that little tab with the fold...
they're out there in print form, just hard to come by. Check eBay, and pick up a copy of Military vehicles Magazine, there are several companies in there that have print manuals. I'm pretty sure Saturn Surplus has the operator's manual, and probably some others
good luck
I got my bridge plate yesterday but am confused at how it mounts- it came with an l-bracket that presumably goes on the bottom back, and appears to rest on one of the flat crossbars of the grill, then the strap goes on the backside and long bolts go from the plate to the strap? Is this right...

yeah, that's what I'd like, in at least one of the axles. Which would cause more tire wear- the two axles linked, or the detroit in one of them?
speaking of, even with the interaxle shaft disconnected that would still provide some traction, right? Interesting idea, you make a turn and the...
I have often thought about that, and with the talk of dual 11x20's I've considered it. My reasoning for the singles is, IMO it looks cleaner, but the duals do look meaner- a subtle difference <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">.
Plus, now, I don't know how much you'd...
off the top of my head, the only place I saw new 11.20's was Wallace Wade, there might have been another place, I'll check out the tire dealer list I put together
examining it as best I could without any nut to test, it appears to be 3/4 fine, left hand thread. Is that right? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug">
the lug nuts on the left are left hand thread, right, so if they match up that's what it is? Sorry for the bonehead...
my spare's only held on by one nut at the moment, and was ordering from McMaster anyway so I'll get a spare. What are they, 1 inch fine thread studs?
oh yeah, and I assume the spare lug studs are right hand thread?
thanks! <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug">

I want a full report on how she does- I heard those NDT's were less than desireable in the snow <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif" alt="Big Smile"> We've had a few storms pound us early and I left her home! drive slow
I haven't seen mention of any dimensional difference between the riveted versus welded wheels. The riveted are just an earlier style to the best of my knowledge. I found mention of the offsets of these wheels thanks to David Doyle:
"the single wheels have a 5 1/2 inch offset,
the duals have...
a good link explaining the theory:

(there's a couple pages, hit next up above the first page)
standard brakes just use vacuum from the engine to a power brake booster that eases your pedal effort. They'll still work in your car...
here's the scoop- if it were the OA 331 it will be quite easy to tell by the spark plugs, if there aren't any plugs it's the LDS 427, a real boat anchor. Now, it's possible they ran all kinds of crap in that gasoline engine, but it wasn't good for it! <img...
hey all, I'm looking for pics of deuces with pioneer racks- where were they mounted and what did they have on them? Were they ever standard on these trucks? Mine didn't come with any tools, anybody seen a place offering the full standard tool set?
thanks!
well, I decided on the airshift conversion because it comes in about $120 cheaper than the Memphis shift kit. I'm all about doing it right, for the cheapest amount though <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">
will keep you posted on how the install goes, sounds fairly...
I did get to thinking, there's only been a few times where I wanted to post something where everybody would read it- light switches, split rim tire changing, where to find a dealer for this and that, looking for a certain article in MVM, etc. It might not be such an active place as I had...
