ANYBODY HAVE THE SAME EXP. WITH INSPECTIONS?

Re: RE: ANYBODY HAVE THE SAME EXP. WITH INSPECTIONS? You used up your only freebie!!! :D From now on you have to look it up yourself!!! None of us, (besides R 4x4) were born knowing all this stuff - all had to look it up in the TM, and are the better for it. While this forum is a great...

    M275A2 in the Driveway Today

Desert Deuce- Nice tractor!!! I love tractors, as it was Kenny's M275A2 that was the first deuce I drove!!! No offense, but your neighborhood doesn't look like the type to embrace pieces of big green iron. Are you going to catch hell from your neighbors? Matt

    Michigan deuce owners!

I got a SOS employee to see my side of the story, and have it registered as a regular pickup.... but a very heavy pickup, 13,350 lbs. I don't think they necessarily know about the third axle I have on the road, but it's $148 a year for me, no restrictions - it's just a huge a$$ pickup to them. Matt

explain some tire sizes to me please?

RE: Thanks guys The stock rims are 7.5" inches wide. As for running duals, even running 11's would be risky. There have been multiple threads on this subject. Check the search function. http://steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=5246 Matt

    here's the newest

RE: here Brian- What's the plan for the trailer? Restoration? RV? Both tractor and trailer look great. Congratulations. Matt

    Got My Truck

David - Congrats on the truck. You'll find that during the first couple months, driving with the windshields open can be a little - interesting. I kept getting bugs in my teeth because I had such a huge s**t eating grin on my face. Enjoy the truck, and there is absolutely nothing like running...

    Deal......or no deal?

Good point - I only found my truck (1965, 110 hours, 9000 miles, winch, hardtop, military insulation, airshift, troop seats, D-turbo) for $5K only after I had given up all hope of ever finding a truck. Sometimes they find you! I would just echo liljohn's comment - unless you NEED the truck...

    10 ton pictures please

jh1990- From the Fort Snelling Military Museum website: "The M123A1C Truck, Tractor is a heavy duty vehicle intended primarily for use with a semi trailer in combat vehicle recovery. Built by Mack, it is powered by a Cummins V-8, 785 cu in, 300 hp diesel engine, with a constant mesh 5-speed...

    Deal......or no deal?

DDoyle - What do you mean "all original truck?" Do you mean M35? Or M35A1? Or M35A2? For a truck that rolled off the assembly line for over 30 years, I am just wondering which you consider original. Wreckerman- As for that price, I agree with clinto and liljohn. For 4K I would expect to see...

E22- What do you mean, "civvie lighting cables?" Matt

First day out after the paint dryed

YankeeDeuce- It looks very good. As long as your truck is not covered in chrome, painted like a candy cane or like cotton candy, you won't hear too much grousing. And, no one is EVER going to mistake that thing for anything other than a military truck. It's got a clean look, too. Matt

    M35A2 on EBAY

M35... that looks like a pretty good truck! And, it sounds like you would avoid all the ridiculous taxes and everything because of its age! Looks like a deal to me! Matt

    Deuce Transmission

jim- Pay close attention to his symptoms. DR was unable to even get his tranfer case into high range, let alone stay there. markpeltier is experiencing a difficulty keeping it in high range. I would like to think that DR would have been smart enough to rig a piece of string to keep his lever in...

    Better Horn

Kenny- We were mainly interested in getting the thing working. Now that the mounts are all fabbed up and everything, look forward to the horn blending in to its surroundings a little more. With less than 60 psi in the system, it sounds like a fog horn. With 90, you get the blat from the...

    Better Horn

So I was finally able to upgrade the weak deuce horn to something more substantial and worthy of the deuce... It's about 3' long, and came off an old Kenworth. 1,000 thanks to Dave_P (SS Member) for helping me with the install of this. A video of the result can be found here...

    Leaking oil filters at base

I think the dissonance comes from the fact that all of the stuff you're trying to "improve" is part of the mystique that makes the deuce so appealing, at least to me. If I wanted power steering, I could have bought a 5 ton. If I wanted a truck that would handle offroad a little better, I would...
