I hope everyone realized I was making a joke. Kenny and I are all for improvement, I think, just not at the expense of OUR effort!!! :-)
Different strokes for everyone, and I didn't mean to offend. And your point about the reason that we all have deuces is very poignant.

Kenny-
I believe they mentioned it's because they're lazy. Which explains why they are tearing their hair out and expending lots of effort trying to fix a system that has worked just fine ... for 50 years..... oh wait... now I'm confused.

That ebay wrench is neat because not only does it give you a little bit of gearing to help in the struggle, but it also keeps the inner lugnut from spinning while you're working on the outer. Really a great tool, but I am in the same boat as you - I am not sure how it actually...
There was some discussion about it awhile back, but it was one of those things where a certain number of people had to commit to the project before the next phase of the moon or the opportunity to have them made would be lost forever. I don't think we had enough folks roger up with the cash to...
The Abrams tanks have their wheels changed at regular intervals, and I have a hard time believing that any rust would be allowed to form. On the other hand - how many rust free deuce lugs have you ever seen? I mean honestly.
Furthermore, I am pretty confident that lugnut removal is one of...
Deuces may not be perfect....
But they are perfect for me. I think they are drawbacks to the deuce, sure... but for $5K, I got one hell of a truck.

I put an elbow into a driveshaft today, Dave swears it shook the truck... stupid axle oil fill holes were tightened with an impact wrench, I think. Well, now I have that auxilliary second right elbow I always wanted...

Also, the M390C looks pretty good behind a deuce. It's an radar/C&C platform. Has three big old levelling jacks, and has a 2 ton cargo capacity. Flat bed, pretty easy to unload with a forklift, and has the airbrakes and everything.

I drive my truck to work often enough that it no longer gets any raised eyebrows. In fact, the days I drive the other car, people ask me if something is wrong with the deuce. My only recourse is to leave it in low range on the way home to rattle main street and get all the tourists to cover...
The ultimate question.... who's had actual, with-their-own-eyes experience with deuce bearings getting "killed" from running singles, M135 wheels or otherwise?

Are we confusing offset to mean two different things? Sounds like Tony is describing the distance to the center of the rim, and gerhard is decribing the distance to the other side of the rim?
Maybe.

We sort of started to cover this. "Hard on the bearings" implies that more force is being placed on the inner bearings, because of the perpendicular distance the tire is from the bearing. However, there is only 1" difference between the tire's position (as compared to the furthest bearing) for...
