Table 1.1 in your same manual has the torque requirements for each of the bolt sizes.
The procedure you're looking at is shown in TM 9-2320-361-34 (dated 1992; supercedes 9-2320-209-34-1 and all the 9-2320-209-34-2-#)
page 10-30..

I would contact Randy from Oueverson Engineering. I know he's always usually super busy, but he's a great guy, and would probably be able to tell you what to use.

Welcome to the forum, B365!!!!
About your buddies-
If they can't appreciate the deuce solely because it makes your heart skip to hear the whistler @ 2200 RPM.... then they're not really buddies. I mean, once I got my deuce, all my friends decorated my desk with balloons that said "It's a boy!!"...
SF97 is a title for the government (instead of a Michigan title... a US title)... and as long as you have the paperwork documenting the change in ownership, it should be no problem. The truck I just bought just got through it's titling process in MN, but it's the same thing. Just give the...
Table 1.2 in the -20 manual says...
Tranny - 4.25 qt (w/o PTO), 5.35 qt (w/PTO)
T-case - 7 qt
Differentials - 6 qt (front or back)
http://www.idahomotorpool.com/xref.html Is a parts cross reference, and shows what fluids to use, also.
Matt
Ahh.... Am I crazy, or could the old tranny be: rebuilt for profit, or kept around as a spare/parts cow?
I mean, like I said, no transmission expert, but the pieces looked to be in good shape...
Matt
Kenny-
Yea, that's what Maccus was mentioning to me today, too. However, how did that front plate on the tranny disintegrate? And, how come there is no (visible) damage done to the PTO gears or the tranny gears?
Matt
That concluded my inspection of the tranny/PTO. Looks like I will be back in business for a fully winch capable truck very soon, and at little to no cost. Marvelous!
Other pics I took today of the truck are in the photo gallery. Enjoy!
Matt
No, you might be asking yourself... Where in the **** did all that metal from the front of the transmission go off to? Well, most of it can be found here... resized into easy to carry shavings!!
More fun
Chapter.... I heck, I've lost count.
Today: PTO and Tranny disassembly/inspection
Alright, so first picture shows the front of the transmission. I am no expert, but I don't think that the transmission leaves the factory looking like that....
Okay... Here it goes:
I wake up at 0500, having stayed awake like a kid before Christmas. Called my buddy Ray who would be doing the drive back in my car. Met at the car at 0530, and soon underway. Stopped for quick breakfast in Oconto Falls, and then pushed on through.
Got a call at about a...
Leaving at 0530 from Marinette, WI, and heading:
41 S
22 W
29 W
94 W
35 N
Returning the same way, or via WI-64, leaving from St. Paul at noon, I hope!
Matt
I should add... I am picking the deuce up north of St. Paul, and am driving it basically straight east until I hit Green Bay. 331 miles!
Don't worry, plenty of pictures and stories, I am sure!!
Matt
Well, after:
1. Seeing the truck in person and making an offer
2. Hearing that the front transmission gasket blew
3. Hearing that the main transmission bearing disintegrated
It looks like I will be picking my truck up tomorrow at about noon!!! Got a buddy of mine heading out with me to at 0530...
