To add make sure you disconnected your batteries while swapping the controller box. If you didn’t the new one is likely toast.
Also make sure you have 24v glow plugs and not 12v.

Hav you flushed your cooling system? Specifically the heater core? That was my issue that caused almost no heat when the heater was turned on.

Fix the fuel leak so you can completely rule that out. I doubt the two issues are related but it’s an easy fix and it rules that problem out.
Next put a meter on it and rule out that the gage is lying to you.
Once you know it’s not fuel or gage related the. You can get to the real trouble...

Off the top of my head everything is covered in the TM. Do a good visual inspection look at everything for loose, cut or unhooked wires. Also look for anything a critter may have built or left in it.
Service or replace the batteries.
Change all of the fluids and filters.

A 4l80E with no computer? Either it’s 700r4 which if not properly built is a dog not worthy of a chevette or it’s a full manual valve body kit and would be a nightmare to drive.

That’s actually a video and the guy cranks on the truck for what seems like forever. It eventually starts but I am sure his starter lost one of its 9 lives and the charging system and glow plugs may never be the same.

The new boxes really don’t have issues. The older boxes do have a pretty high failure rate. Many of those failures can be traced back to poor grounding. You can dramatically prolong the life of the older prestolite boxes by adding a grounding harness.
