I have had some luck with this in Tampa. By some luck, I mean that they have done it on occasions and not on others. The manager there authorized it using the wording about "other reasons" wording in the state statute.
Welcome to the site from about as far away as you can get in the States. I think you win the prize for Northern Most Member! With any luck you will have a visitor up your way soon. Ferro is headed your way from down this way...
DF,
Good to hear from you again, seems a while since I saw a post from you. That is a good looking set up and gives me some ideas of what to do with mine. I picked one of those up in Jax last year and have not decided what to do with it yet.
Are you moving it around on hard stand or grass/dirt? I am not sure on the tongue weight for the 200 but you can find a heavy duty furniture dolly that could handle weight over 1,000 for well under $100, drop it onto that and roll it around if you are on concrete. This is one reason I like the...
Phil,
All I can say is get the box back together before summer, which gives you about three weeks. Working inside with only the outer skin is a sauna during the summer. I have to put the mirrors and hard top on mine next weekend then she is back on the road. I will have to make a road trip...
Man, you guys need a hobby.... wait, we have a hobby, I like the 5 ton and now will have to try a deuce. I can use the Lincoln Logs I bought my son for things to drive over or winch. I heard that we are getting a Legoland here in Florida replacing the old Cypress Gardens.
Legoland Florida...
Jumped out of that plane and loved it. Got a chance in 1970 for some stick time on one heading to Hawaii from California. I was six at the time and I still remember that vividly to this day. Now you let the kid direct a plane or two and it is front page news. I wish I could take one a park...
I have the flat deck version of the 101 with the HMMWV style tires and surge break. It pulls very well behind an F150 so I suspect that it would do as well behind your CUCV, I hope that it will do well behind the Wrangler. Go with the 101 series versus the 105.
Clinto,
I will bring along my CP tent if wanted. We used it this year at the Florida rally with just the roof to give us some cover in the prep area. Have the week of the rally on my vacation calendar and looking forward to the trip up North.
Nice looking deuce you have there. I have a box that I take with me on all trips. Inside is a good bottle jack, breaker bar with extension and sockets, spare belts and hoses, fluids, warning triangle, tools, air hose, bulbs and other items. I also carry a large cheater bar. Since you are not...
If you are pulling with a deuce of greater I would use the 103 trailer chassis. If you are pulling with something smaller then the 116 should work well. This is a Maintenance box from a HMMWV that I have on a flat deck generator trailer. It is just on there for now and moving it to an M353...
Dang, flying and playing with Witchcraft! I hope the folks from Collings were suitably appeciative of your help.
My kids and I have crawled around in her and Nine O Nine every time they come to St. Pete. One of these days I am going to suck it up and spend the money to fly on her.
Hal,
You can get any of the paint colors that you want in a flat, semi gloss, or full on gloss. Any good paint shop can whip it up based upon the color code. I am using a paint that is a urethane based ultra flat. With the catalyst and hardener added it is lands somewhere beteen flat and semi...
Florida not only issues titles but will require them on a trailer that weighs over 2,000 lbs.
All of mine have a tilte except for one and that one is getting turned into parts as Florida will only register it if I classify it as assembled from scrap.
I am finishing up the work on my hard top this weekend. If I factor in cost for my own labor to transform the old, rusty, and dented to something like new, much less new then $1,200 is reasonable. If I had the money necessary and could rewind back to when I unbolted the old top, I would gladly...
I am camping with my scouts that weekend down at Myakka River State Park. What time is the show? I return on Sunday so it is possible that I could make it there if it an afternoon show.
I have made two fairly long recoveries to Florida, one from Indiana and the other Texas. As other said good prep work on the truck is essential. Bring as many spare parts and tools for common problems as you can get to Georgia. The route from Florida to Texas along I-10 is an easy road for...
