Ok the Detroit engine 8v92ta = is a 2 stroke supercharged engine with 8 cylinders at 92 cubic inches, turbo charged, and aftercooled !!!! The Detroit 8v92tta = the same as above but is twin turbo charged, and aftercooled !! Some of the other Detroit Engines are Series 60 it is a 4 stroke...
check the radius and torque arm bushings you might have some bushing that have worn out or deteriorated !! On the outside chance your truck may have had 2 different length spring installed durning some kind of maintenance and that would give you the same problem ..
I have read that it can lead to cracking the transfer case do to the torque applied to the transfer case. I am sure other can post up with more infomation abut that problem !!!
Problem with the Detroit Engines are they are very noise and the 2 cycle leak oil like a bastard . I had a 671 detroit for years and it had a hard time pulling out of its own shadow !! I have driven the Series 60m Detroits and still they do not compare to a Good CAT or Cummins for pulling...
The lockers were install in the marine trucks in the M809 series trucks !!! You can jack the truck up and set it on jack stands then start it up and put it into low range and you should see all 6 wheels turning together if it has lockers ?? But being it is a Navy truck the possibilities are...
By the infor mation you have does it match the data plate numbers on the truck ?? Does the serial number C22810842 match the number on your truck ?? You can also check the data plate on the engine the contract number should be the same and also check the frame rail on the left front near...

Just try what Gimp is saying !! I know guys down in Fla and the boats sank so the leave under the salt water till they can raise it and then they pickel the motor and flush all fluids and they can save their engines even after several months in the salt water !! Try that before scrapping !!
Yes it will gain speed but you will oose pull power with the 1400X20 I would not recomend these tires !! The M915A1 will pull any load at 70 Mph all day !! If you can a M915 with the 16 Speed Cat trans you will be able to run out at 75 empty it is a bit faster. But for the money the M915 or...
I am wondering if the front steering will handle the weight ?? Wouldn't it cause the front suspension to give steering problems with that much weight up front ?? And cause excessive wear to the fornt axle bearings and components ?? I hope that will not be a problem !!
Also the early M939 trucks were standard transmission before the M939A1 have the Automatic transmissions !! Another thing is that the Cummins engine will run on WMO, Trans, Hyd oils, Bio diesel if mixed with diesel !!
