My M35A2C is a 1969 Kaiser-Jeep, but it could have experienced a bit of the old mix 'n' match back in military service. The dash plate specifies a non-winch truck and it has no winch, yet the cab has the hole, safety latch and lever position marking plate for a winch control handle. The dash...
I can't take credit for being the first to notice that the tank dome lights fit between deuce cab bows perfectly! I just happened to have a picture handy from one of my old deuces that now lives with somebody else.
One nice thing about your location on the dash is that you still have a light if...
Here's another convenient place to mount one of those lights in a deuce. They fit perfectly between the cab soft top bows, hanging from some P-loops. A ground wire should be used in this configuration, to connect the body of the lamp housing to a good ground on the vehicle.
I've seen those...
Congratulations on your new toy! I hope it turns out to be a good deal, and that the brakes turn out to need a simple fix. I've had a few deuces with bad brakes that just needed master cylinder rebuilds to get working. It's not a very hard thing to do, with a rebuild kit from Memphis Equipment...
If there's no obvious fluid leakage, it might be the control lever. I haven't had to rebuild one yet, but I would think that a bad internal seal in there could make the boom lower without any loss of fluid. Although I haven't had this problem myself (so I'm talking out my back end to a certain...
Re: RE: air
I toned it down for the kiddies. Ask me again after 10 PM. rofl
But seriously, dig in to the operator's manual, and find this block diagram near the beginning of the "Description" section. In a manual that's supposed to teach a truck driver how to drive a truck. WTF WERE THEY...
RE: air
Without doubt, the -209 series of TMs for the deuce is the worst example of technical writing I have ever encountered. The entire heaping pile stinks of having been written by amateur writers with no personal experience working on vehicles, under the direction of bureacratic managers...
RE: GMC
That's a neat looking truck. Is it yours?
This board doesn't let us include external images in the posts. If you want your pictures to show up in your posts (instead of having people click on links like you did above), then you upload them to the server with the "attachment" feature...
Those inflatable chemical shelters have always looked neat to me, but I've avoided buying one because I don't think I could set up or stow one by myself, and my dogs aren't too helpful in such operations. I'm happy to see one going to a good home, and I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of it...
Regarding the ether cannister: Would the military have used off-the-shelf cannisters identical to what I'd get from an ag supplier, or would they have their own production contract with the usual (beautiful) OD paint and black lettering?
Regarding the original topic that I so thoughtlessly...
Re: RE: Safe Starting Fluid ?
My M35A2C came out of the GL auction with an ether injection kit in place of the regular flame heater. I hadn't seen this setup before. The old spark plug hole was open when I got the truck, so I plugged it with some random spark plug that I bought at AutoZone...
