Thanks for the additional pictures and explanation. I can see how those little clamp pieces would work, and tying down the front end with the chains makes sense, too. I'm looking forward to some more pictures once you figure out how it all works and lift something with it! :)

The kit pictured above at the OD Iron site link would be the "old" kit. It has a big button that fills the whole center area of the steering wheel hub, with a rubber cover that goes over it. I see two or three of these kits on eBay at the moment, too. The "new" kit looks like this...

Hi, and welcome to the forum! I haven't had to buy a Jeep engine yet (knocking on wood... my M38A1 isn't running reliably yet, but I haven't seen any signs of the engine being toast yet...) so I can't speak from experience, but I have noticed that Surplus City Jeep Parts advertises...

So, anybody in the US wanna buy my deuce, and then sell me an Iltis for the same amount later... wink, wink, nudge, nudge? rofl

Regarding the turbo sound, there are both "whistler" and "non-whistler" trucks, depending on which kind of turbo is on the engine. The whistlers have a very loud turbo whine (much louder than the turbo whine you might hear from typical commercial turbo diesels), while the non-whistlers don't...

Just hang tight. I didn't win the lottery last Wednesday, but I'm playing 10 bucks again tonight! ;) I'd take real good care of your truck, though it might grow a knuckleboom on its back... :lol:

Ah, good ol' square tires! The bias ply tires on my HMMWV love to do that, too. First I'll bounce straight up and down, then after my first turn I'll bounce all over the place, and then they turn back into circles after about 5 or 10 miles. :)
