    DLA Letter

    DLA Letter

I got a letter from DLA earlier this week (Monday). I assumed this meant I had been approved. As of today (Friday) GL still says they have not received any approval. How long does it normally take once I get the DLA letter? Also, the letter never really says I've been "approved". It says...

    Walk away parts?

Darn right....that's a good idea....commence to being angry

    Walk away parts?

Re: parts Little late for that. I knew there would be risks as far as the running condition of the truck, but stuff missing that was in the picture is a little different.

    Walk away parts?

What's the official word on walk-away parts? I have read a few posts recently about stuff missing from guys' trucks when they go to pick them up. I am going to be supremely pissed if I show up and, say, my cargo cover is gone. Anybody had any problems with this? Do we have any recourse?

Haul one deuce from Drexel Gardens, IN to Kansas City, MO?

Okay, I'm stupid, I forgot you need the truck to get the trailer all the way home. Let me think this one over. I'm getting shipping quotes in the mean time and I might have found a decent quote.

    Deuce for practical off-road work

Re: uh, um, err Thanks, that's some good testimonials. I like that a lot better than "the deuce sucks on such and such trail, you need singles, lockers and a motor swap!!".

Haul one deuce from Drexel Gardens, IN to Kansas City, MO?

Say, that's not a bad idea. If you came back via I-72/Hwy 36 across North Missouri, I could meet you in Chillicothe or St. Joe and that would save you (or me) an extra trip. We could split the fuel 50/50. The only thing is I don't 100% know the condition of the truck. They say it runs, and...

    Deuce for practical off-road work

Awesome, Bill, that's the kind of info I'm looking for. I'm sure the two cords of wood help a lot, though. How has she done with an empty bed?

    Deuce for practical off-road work

Yeah, I'd love to have the dropsides, but you take what you can get with GL. As far as chains go, I've thought about that, too, and it really sounds like the most effective and affordable option for the few times you might need them. A lot easier and cheaper than buying 7 super singles...

    Deuce for practical off-road work

Well, I already bought one from GL basically based on that premise. For just over $2k, I'm getting a machine that is infinitely more useful than a four-wheeler or Rhino/Gator/Mule and much cheaper. Granted, it won't be as nimble, but the price/performance ratio is pretty hard to beat. Easy to...

    Deuce for practical off-road work

I doubt we'd ever carry something even that heavy. Mostly brush, lumber, firewood, dead deer (if things work out well :) ), maybe a load of gravel or straw bales. The property is up out of the river bottom, so the ground is pretty solid, but there is a dirt road with a hard rock bottom that we...

    Deuce for practical off-road work

So, I've been reading all the posts about Deuce's in the mud, sand, etc. and reading all about super singles, lockers, etc. Everyone says the stock setup sucks, but what I really want to know is how does it work for the average off-road farm use? The more I read, the more I get the feeling...

    Part out a Deuce-Part II

Got a full heater kit on any of the parts trucks? Let me know, thanks!!

Haul one deuce from Drexel Gardens, IN to Kansas City, MO?

Unfortunately, I'm on kind of a tight schedule with the pregnant wife and all. Also, this is my first truck of this size, so I don't know that I'd feel comfortable pulling a trailer that heavy right off the bat. I wish I could help you out, but I'm probably not the best guy for you in this case.

    What have I done?

Re: RE: Re: RE: Good Deal! Yeah, we're going to try and come back via I-72/Hwy 36. I think we may have a cellular card for our laptop, so I will get in touch if I need anything. Thanks!

Haul one deuce from Drexel Gardens, IN to Kansas City, MO?

I got my DLA letter yesterday so I am expecting an invoice in the next day or so and then I will have 14 days to pick it up. I am planning on driving my truck back myself, but my wife is pregnant and due in less than a month. If I can't get it picked up in the next week or so, I'm going to...

    What have I done?

RE: Re: RE: Good Deal! Another question I just came up with....if the pictures show a chain and lock on the steering wheel, should I expect that they will unlock it for me or do I need to bring bolt cutters?

    What have I done?

Re: RE: Good Deal! I guess I don't officially have it back, but I think the DLA letter means I'm good to go. No invoice yet, though. I hope I did well on the truck, I won it sight unseen. The only thing I could see was a little rust spot under the passenger fender. Also, there's no pics of...
