Don't try to nitpick on what's wrong here or you'll drive yourself crazy. Ratchetstrapped-in gastank and no harnesses or seatbelts on the buggy, no towlights, you name it. I had just got it running and...
Yipaa! Big storm comin through, gotta haul the last remains of my chevy pickup to the dump! Unfortunately, I also have to weld a firewall onto my custom frame and it doesn't fit in the garage, but that said, I am excited about running around in the deuce! First snow run for my baby!
Thought you...
So, I am now focussing my attention on putting the new brakes on the deuce. I just got a quote to get some new radials on the beast, and now I'm looking for ideas for the brakes.
I have the option to do one of to things:
1. Pull out the stock brakes ENTIRELY and just run completely air-driven...
Just in case anyone goes and has to replace the shoes on their transfer case mounted parking brake, and the little wire seperator at bottom is broken, you want to make two, roughly 17/32" [or slightly larger than 1/2"] holes in about ~14 ga plate 2.5" apart from one another to recreate this...
So, um, what's the spacing on the 5 ton arms? Could we use these for spacing out the rear axles a bit? I wonder if we could also use the same bottom leaf for the leaf pack.
Someone want to do some measuring for me? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_cool.gif" alt="Cool">

I'm looking at getting some recaps for the r22.5 wheels for the back of the deuce. Any suggestions on what to put on?
Also, what's the angle on getting serviceable but cheap tires in this size?
Cheers
Bob
Hey guys,
Just to let you know, certain Hinos came with r22.5 wheels that fit the deuce. I just scored 6 of em for $300!
Anyway, I'm dog tired from slaving in the sun, so I'll keep this short. I also got the brake system from the same truck, which I'll be (slowly) adapting onto my beast...

Wow. It's a little heavy.
I'm the tall guy in the blue shirt. Note the dazed (crazed?) look in my eyes after unloading.
Now it's time to measure EVERYTHING and prepare tough for the 1 day swap fest. Oh yeah...
This was just on the Mil Veh site:

Go to the second page and check out the deuce in the middle of the page (around picture number 50 or so). Is that an ok method to single? Just flip the hubs around and run single normal dually wheels?
Cheers

It's a minor thing, I know, but I just fixed the horn solenoid on my truck and for the first time I can hear the sweet sweet bi-tonal music coming from the horn. Kudos to Saturn Surplus for quick delivery and a solid part.
I love the deuce even more these days. :)

Hi Folks,
Crazy Bob here, trying to figure out how to trade sleep for more projects time.
Oh gosh. Just when I realized that I don't need any more projects, I get a line on a cheap and I mean cheap NA Cat 3208 with a spicer 6052C tranny. If you're on the mil veh list, you've seen my...
